Man finds a genies lamp and frees the genie without using all of his wishes. He wishes that each time he dies he can transfer his body to a new host as one of his wishes.

Sounds like Billy Ray's "Perfect Wishes"

No problem, remembered most of the story and easily found it via https://storiesonline.net/stories/bytag/ under "Mind Control".
But not via "Genie". #Authors-No-Using-The-Correct-Tags
That's because the story was posted in 2006 well before the Genie tag was added to the list. Most authors select all the relevant tags when they post the story, but often aren't aware of new tags which are added to the list later. If the lack of the tag worries you, write to the author and suggest he uses the Manage Stories part of the Author's section to update the tags of his story or stories to add the tags added since the story was first posted.
I will add that I find that most writers will try and include any and all current tags which might appear in their stories. Some times it almost looks like there are more tags than story. But like Ernest so nicely put it. If you think a story needs a particular tag, send feedback to the writer suggesting it be added.
Most writers who accept feedback will probably consider the suggestion and might add the tag.
edited to add: Sorry Ernest this doesn't really relate to you. I should have made it to the same party you replied to.

No worries. I responded because I knew the Genie code was a relatively new one, and when I saw the story was posted in 2006 I knew it wouldn't have been around then. The author is still active, and they can add codes via their author account, so he needs to know and he can fix it. The Code Definition list is more than double the size it was when I first started posting at SoL - over the years I've added more than one code to some stories, but probably need to review them all again.
I've added more than one code to some stories
The same problems exist however. The bully type that would rather destroy a storyteller than encourage them to grow.

Yeah, every time the code definitions expand I got to check them and how they relate to the stories so I can add the extra relevant codes to help readers find them.

I found the best solution years ago to stories with things that trigger bad reactions. I just close the story and start another one to feed my reading habit. I don't send hate feedback because of it. Those things are my problems not the writers.

All that's true and good, Doc, but I think we're talking about cross purposes here.
1. One is where an author chooses to mis-tag or wrong tag a story.
2. The other is where an author has tagged a story the best he could, and then a new code was added later and he either didn't know or realise he should go in to add the tag to his story. This is the case that happened with the genie tag. The reader wasn't happy because a search using the code didn't find the story, because the story was posted a decade ago, well before the code was added to the list about 18 months or so ago. The author did the right thing, but the goal posts have changed since then.
I know some of my stories have had new codes added when I revised them, and I'll probably find more as I go along.
the system is morphing to make it better for all involved, and the old stuff has to amended to suit the new playing field, but people forget to do it.
I am just trying to keep an open mind. There are many possible reasons for not having a code. Only a very few are because a writer deliberately misleads the readers. Some like you will go back and make sure periodically as codes get added or changed. Others might not realize they can change the codes. Of course there are other potential causes as well.

3. Author correctly tags the story but a reader ignores the tags and complains anyway. Usually rudely and with much use of profanity.

Rudeness is never right. I find Courteous communications get much better results. But like everyone else I do fail at times in doing it properly.

I agree with you, but there are people out there, including readers at this site who will be rude for the sake of being rude and damn the results.
... stories with things that trigger bad reactions. I just close the story and start another one ...
I have gotten into some stories and come across a major squick item but couldn't stop reading, so I just skimmed the story until the event ended and continued reading. I have found that many untagged items that disturb me are not recurring themes, but something that happens once or as a twist.
There have been times when I have been watching a movie and truly enjoyed it until the end when something occurs that makes me think, and in one case, proclaim out loud, 'what a stupid ending.' Can you identify it?
"Hey mister! Ain't nothing going to stop us!"
"Sure looks that way."
Trainhorn sounds
Car hits train and explodes
Credits roll over burning car.
Basically I am just saying don't be too quick to judge. A reader has two basic options at all times. Either continue reading or close the story and select another one.
There are also a vast majority of readers like myself who live to read and are so happy that they can read here for free (or for a small amount, lol) that we just read and not complain. For myself I vote at the end of a chapter or story if I really enjoy it. If I don't like a story I simply move on to the next one that looks interesting. Or if I'm in a certain mood I go back and read a favorite.

I have been a long time member of your group. Oh I did send notes to writers at times to say thank you as well as discuss ideas based around one or more of their story plot lines.
