Well im running out of stories to read now, would like some recomendations. i read every story that appealed to me on the top 50 lists so im looking for a gem. just to give an idea some of my favorite stories are d-man series stupid boy series ordinary college sex life and playing the game
First, check out the other stories by the authors you like.
Second, check their favourites list.
Repeat the above with any new authors.
How do you check an author's favourites list?
When you go to the page with the author's list of stories there's a thick line across the top with their name, below that are four links;
Email - Blog - Profile - Favorites
Just click on the link for favorites and it opens a page where they've listed their favorite stories. Most authors raise this list and rarely update them, so they're often dated. Not all authors create the list, in which case the link doesn't show for them. The same is true for email, blog, and profile.
Ernest is right. Also any story you enjoy go and check the author's page on SOL or FS its fairly simple to do. Other sites it might be a little harder to do. See what other stories they have available many good storytellers have more than one good one.
Bookmark their pages to simplify checking them out as you have time.
Scroll through the Lost stories listings, I find many interesting stories there that I missed as well.
Check out the story listings for the Clitorides awards. It has lists for several years.
I can not even begin to tell you which ones you might like or not like, but there are many sources available.

But there is three times more, at least, I did not mention who are just as good. The thing is, you need to choose reading material across the board, before you get to "like" this or that.

Between SOL and Fine Stories there are over 38,000 stories available. The top 50 lists cover maybe 200 of those stories. Maybe less. Look at past reviews, particularly stories reviewed by Celeste in the early years. Adjust your sights, aim for pretty good stories, not the ones that won awards or by authors you already know are good. I went through all the stories by authors whose name started with A. I was looking for stories good enough to need a review, but there are dozens or hundreds of stories worth reading by that set of authors alone. Once you have scanned the As, try the rest of the alphabet. One of the advantages of getting older is that you forget things, so re-reading stories you might have read a few years ago are worth re-reading. I think you will have better luck with SOL than at a library or bookstore.

This is an excellent suggestion. Read reviews and find a reviewer that you most often agree with. Then use that reviewer(s) as a source for more stories. Both those to read and those to avoid.
Based on the stories you mention, you are interested in sports stories. Some sports are in Banadin's Richard Jackson Saga, mostly golf. SmokinDriver also features golf and also surfing. Many stories about kids growing up or in school feature sports. Football, Football and Football are in Douglas Fox's stories.

Don't forget the 'similar stories' list, though that's based on story codes, rather than topic or writing skill.
For a start run your eye down the main part of the home page. Apart from the blog references there is always a wide selection to peruse. OK, some are the latest chapter so follow each and then go back to the index.Then go down the lists on the" left of the most popular stories under many headings.
IF you have some personal fetish go to bing.com and enter (fetish words)(space)storiesonline.net. IMHO that is sometimes slightly better than SOL's own search engine

- so that your search only gives you result from this site and specific keywords ...

OK so I specified the words to search for before the site name.
Given the legals happening in the US I prefer to use a search engine which claims not to keep records of who searches for what. In recent months Google seems to be editing results and I understand that people can get references to them removed from Google - where I expect 20 pages of results I get two so I have to wonder what is omitted.

Only if they live in Europe, because the EU created a legal right to be forgotten. Even then, Google only started to do so after being sued in the EU courts and losing. Don't presume that other search engines aren't doing the same thing.

Which search engine is that? It certainly isn't Bing or Yahoo.
use DuckDuckGo, or russian Yandex, or chinese search engine called Baidu (you must know chinese for it :D )

I have to say for anyone new or just looking for ideas use the Author's Favorites link. This link has a higher than avg listing of very good stories.
The men and women that post here have a good sense when a story realy hits it out of the ballpark and they understand the real work that took. So when I see an author say he/she realy likes so an so story it means just a bit more to me.
That is especially true when its an author who's stories you already enjoy. Of course many also enjoy a nice variety of story genre's and that also increases the chances of finding something really different to enjoy.
edited to add: I also keep an eye on Lost Stories forum among the other forums here. Its surprising how many stories I have found to enjoy that way.

The system doesn't allow you to do that, so you can't list a story of your own or one that's linked to your account with any management capabilities for it.
I have seen it in the last week. The stories by the author were fairly old, certainly prior to 2010, but I almost always look at recommendations, I am reasonably sure I have seen the self recommendation at least a dozen times, maybe more. Maybe the system has changed, but the old recommendations (favorites) are still there.

Sometimes its nice to be reminded of those stories. Its surprising how many are still good. Of course everyone has a little different idea of what they want to read as well.
