Anatonomical confusion

karactr ๐Ÿšซ

While I am sure cervical penetration during coitus might, possibly, maybe, theoretically happen...though I don't see how given the geometry...why is it so prevalent in many of the stories that I read here and on other sites? Penetration of the anterior or posterior fornix and the subsequent stretching that would involve seems much more likely.
Is it just a power kink thing? Or is such action really that common?

I don't think it's even a theoretical possibility in real life. And if it is possible and does happen, I would imagine that it would be quite painful for both the woman and the man.

For one thing, it would take a penis at the upper end of the range of human variation to have enough length to do it. Then from what I have read, those extremely long cocks don't get quite as rigid when erect as shorter specimens.

It's very rare, and it is painful, and never a complete entry, just a minor partial entry of the tip. Usually it's due to a an abnormality in the female's interior and some non-standard bend on the male's shape. What is more common, but not very common, is for the tip to end up against the entrance.

It's a common trope due to the exoticness of the action of being something not normally done.

From http://goaskalice.columbia.edu/answered-questions/possible-penetrate-cervix-during-sex

The long and short of it is that the penis cannot penetrate the cervix during sex. The cervix has a small opening called the os that enlarges during childbirth (check out pictures of the uterus and cervix from Mayo Clinic (link is external)), but otherwise remains a tiny opening. The os is usually plugged with mucus and is too small to let a penis inside.

If the penis was long enough and enough force was applied, the cervix could be penetrated - tearing the os's muscles rather than stretching them.

Thank you both, those were my thoughts as well. Not only is the os small, it will only expand a few millimeters unless subjected to the tons of hormones that get dumped into a woman's body during childbirth. Also, while some penises may have the length and firmness, I'm pretty sure few if any would bend at the angles to make it possible. As I said, penetration of one of the fornixes is much more likely.

But why is it such a trope in these fictions?

I recall some years ago an article about porn actresses who had surgery to keep the cervix dilated for penetration. I can only assume it was a passing fad and didn't catch on. While the vagina isn't germ free the womb should be, and infections of the womb can have serious consequences.

Perhaps sometimes during intercourse penetration of either of the two vaginal fornices is mistaken for penetration of the cervix. Here's some information from the Wikipedia article on the vaginal fornix:

During sexual intercourse in the missionary position, the tip of the penis reaches the anterior fornix, while in the rear-entry position it reaches the posterior fornix.[1]

Some women receive enjoyment from stimulation of the fornices, while other women say that their fornices cannot be stimulated without stimulation of the cervix, which may be painful.[citation needed]

The fornices appear to be close to one reported erogenous zone, the cul-de-sac, which is near the posterior fornix.
