Sage advice from a founding father. Sort of a Lazeez of his era, being a printer of a number of publications. I try not to use spoilers in a review, but his eighth and final reason for having an older mistress is often quoted and certainly as true today as it was when written. The copyright date on the SOL page says 2010, but internal evidence indicates it was written prior to 1750, advising its recipient to marry, but if not then to choose an older woman as mistress.
It's short and doesn't have a lot of plot, and the characters are not named or very well developed. I will give the Plot an n/a. Technical quality is adequate, I saw a wrong word toward the end, proofreading appears not to be one of the author's strengths. If I recall, before Webster's Dictionary, spelling was not as consistent as it is now. Also the style is a little old fashioned, but consistent with other documents from the period so allowance must be made. I will give it a 7, which is a B.
As I mentioned the ending is the strongest part of the document, and it has been of interest to readers for hundreds of years, I will give it an 8, which is an A.
I recommend this as the better of the author's two stories on SOL. I have not read the other one, but it appears to be a discussion of farts. Oh, by the way: April Fool!"
