Poly / Harem / D/s Stories

tjcase ๐Ÿšซ

Question for the authors here. Why o why do 90%+ of the harem/poly stories on here go with quantity over quality?

In sooo many multi chapter stories (30+), by the end of the 5th chapter the MC has fucked 35 different partners in 3 days time. By the 10th chapter there is like 75 character names to lost in.

If stroke stories is what you want to write, please write 35 different stories. The characters don't matter so much then.

Yes, I understand this is fiction, make believe, whatever else you want to call it. But it is usually so much better to read a story that has at least a pinky set close to reality.

My little rant for the day is over.......

And I do usually read all 35 chapters....silently complaining in my mind.

Good day.

Do you mean that your life isn't like that? I thought everybody lived that way.

Can't we do both?

It's not necessarily like we specifically KNOW how many women the MC is going to end up with when he starts gathering women. (Looks at my own ongoing story, shaking my head and wondering how it turned into harem from a simply foursome.)

I don't think quantity makes for good characterisation.

That's not necessarily a bad thing. If that's the sort of story you like to read, then go ahead and write it. But it reminds me of chop socky films where all the bad guys stand in a circle waving their fists until it's their turn to advance into a kick or punch by the protagonist.

Those are the kind of situations where, other than the burly brawl in the one Matrix movie, everyone SHOULD just pile on and then simply from the weight of the bodies hold him down.

Perhaps, but to some extent, that tactic goes against human nature. The fighter in the middle will probably manage to kill at least one of them before the rest drag him down and no one wants to be the first one to die.

Also there is a fundamental problem with 6+ on one melee for the side with 6+. If they all attack at once, any one who misses has a high chance of hitting an ally. The guy in the middle doesn't have to worry about that. They have to hold back for fear of taking out an ally and the one doesn't.

The only way that works is if the side with numbers forgets the fancy martial arts and goes for plane old fashioned grappling, just dog pile the man in the middle, grab any piece of him you can and try to hang on.

The problem with that is that people who have spent years studying a particular combat technique will have a hard time throwing all that away in the heat of the moment in favor of "grab something, anything, and try to hang on".

That reminds me of a Chesty Puller quote

We are surrounded. That simplifies the problem.

They have and many of them have ended up on my Exclusions list.

The great thing about stories is we can explore fantastic fantasies. I think many guys would enjoy having sex with many girls. I will admit I've fantasized about enjoying multiple guys. Nothing I want to explore RL but no harm pretending.

quantity over quality?

Quantity has a quality of its own.

Remember that for most, sexual fantasy and wish fulfillment are linked closely.

I have some friends who are in poly-relationships. The magical penis premise is bullshit, not to mention many other concerns. However, they tell me the fantasy of it is alive and well with them; "fuel for the fire" was the specific quote.

Therefore, it doesn't strike me as all that odd if real-life examples are into as well. It's not my cuppa, but there are many who like such stories, even if it is detached from reality.
