I was browsing Bookapy and came across a book that was only 8,500 words. When I clicked on "read sample," all I got was the cover, copyright info, and cover art info. So there's no sample of the author's writing.
I guess at 8,500 words Lazeez can't really provide much more, but I thought I'd bring it to the attention of authors selling short works on Bookapy.
For books by SOL authors, we can all read their stories on line to get a sample of their writing. Perhaps it would be a good idea for the authors of books sold on Bookapy to write a short synopsis of the story that could be read instead of passages from the book.

For a while, during the Beta-testing phase, Lazeez required authors to produce their own 'sample read' version of their books (sans any graphics at all). He later revised that, assuring us that he could easily handle any and all graphics, so we all moved over to the new model. But, when we did, he removed the option to enter our own sample-read versions.
But frankly, 8,500 is only a longish chapter and hardly an entire book, as it's hard to provide a sample of less than a chapter (at least since that's how Lazeez does it, deliberately NOT cutting chapters in half).

I didn't say a sample of a chapter - I said a synopsis. Think of a story description without a word limit.
There already is a provision for a 4,000 word story synopsis.

On the other hand, 4000 words might be a little cramped for a 1,500,000 word story.

There are a few stories on SOL that long.
And how many novels depends on the genre. Science Fiction and high fantasy novels tend to be over 100K words and can go as high as 400K, which would make 1.5M words somewhere in the range of 4 to 15 novels.
