I was on my home page, and saw that I have a large (to me) number of followers. Is there a way to identify them?

Do you have any plans to let authors know who is following them?
I don't know yet. I'll have to consider all the ramifications of stuff like that. I may implement it as opt-in for readers to allow authors to see them.
This is not facebook where the point is to make money off the interactions. SOL's members tend to guard their privacy. Nothing is more illustrative than the fact that almost nobody ever tweets about stories they read here despite having the twitter link on every story for the last few years; even the no-sex stories.

Only if they send you a message about a story or they comment on a story at the end of if when you have the Public Comments turned on.

Yes, but only if they tell you they are following you.
It is entirely possible to message or comment without following the author.

True, but many do say so when they email you, and if you see the same people turning up in the public comments on a frequent basis it's a safe assumption to make.
