Can free membership be recovered after voluntary payment

Barely Sofia ๐Ÿšซ

Hi!

I have one question, I've recently got the free membership due some of my stories, that's cool, because some months it was hard to pay, my question is.

If I pay one month from time to time in order to help the site, once that month is finished, I will still have the free membership?

Thanks;

Sofi.

Yes, of course. You don't lose anything.

Last time I checked the site also takes donations if that's an easier way for you, so the amount doesn't have to match a membership amount.

What's more, the author Premiere access is permanent, regardless of what you do or don't contribute in the future.

Are the details of the author membership posted anywhere? I've been having a real hard time finding it.

Yes.

Go to the Home page. Click on Authors/Editors near the top left corner. Select Story Stats.

Note #4 tells you how close you are to achieving the 500 points needed for free premier membership as an author.

Thanks Ross. Looks like you have to post a story before that link displays any info.

Yep. Only published authors can access the "Author" page, otherwise most think it's the "Authors" page, which merely lists the various author information by name. After all, who really needs to access (and potentially modify) author stats and story information except the author of the work?

The text of note #4 displayed on the "Author" page is:

This number is the size of text qualifying for premier service. If it is over 500, then you should be getting premier service on the site, or you will after your next post. It's calculated from the regular size and the score. Better quality stories are worth more. Stories with multiple authors are divided among all the authors.

You'll likely need to post at least 120K words to qualify. That's about two shortish novels.

I have a long way to go. I've only accumulated 6 of the 500 points needed from the only story I have posted, which has about 2,000 words. At about 200 words per kilobyte of storage, it has a size of 10Kb. The size in kilobytes (10) is multiplied by the story's score (over 6) and that is divided by 10 to give my points total (6).

No, they're not really detailed anywhere on the site. An author's premier service is exactly the same as a normal premier service with one exception. Premier authors cannot read nor vote on open contest stories. Once a contest closes, then premier authors gain access to all the stories in the contest.

To qualify for an author's premier service, you must post enough text of a given quality. You need 500 points and the points are derived from the text's size and the score that it's getting.

If it does, you can bet it's a nudist resort (author quivers at the sight of his fellow author's in their 'all-together').

Yes, a 'last resort'. :)

Yes, a 'last resort'.

Is that like a two-week vacation to the Gulag Archipelago? Or perhaps one to Hawaii when the volcano finally blows once and for all? (Ad tag line: enjoy the new 'lava flow' ride while it's still hot!)
