Chapter updating question

Eric Ross ๐Ÿšซ

I have been queuing up chapters to post automatically, and posted a few chapters in one of my stories out of order. Just caught it this morning when I saw the next chapter posted. It turns out that I mistakenly ordered them when exporting to HTML from Scrivener.

I figure the solution is either to (a) delete the one chapter that has been erroneously posted or (b) update that one chapter (for some reason it doesn't appear in the updated chapter list for me) or (c) insert the two chapters that should be ahead of it there.

Any thoughts? What am I missing?

Eric.

No idea what you might be missing. At this point I don't think there is a right thing to do.

I would post the two chapters that should have been posted before the posted chapter.

Thanks. Do you know if they will be posted in Chapter order or time stamp order? Apologies for the questions... I've been an SOL reader for over a decade, but just started posting my own stories recently.

Yeah. Posting can be confusing.

To me there is a difference between posting a story or chapters and replacing an existing story or chapters with an updated version of the chapters.

Since the submission choices only use the word Post, when I submit a change, I think the submission will appear under New Story or Updates.

Or simply repost both in the correct order. But since they posted out of order, I'd delete the one that shouldn't have been posted, and then post the earlier version as it should have appeared.

But, this is the reason why I stopped using time-stamped submissions a LONG time ago, as they're inherently so confusing, it's easier just posting the stories when you need to.

This is especially true because posts aren't all processed immediately, so if you post something in the evening, it'll generally post in the morning (before 8a.m. in most cases, and frequently as early as 12:03a.m.). Thus it's difficult when the actual submission affects the actual posting time.

But, if you keep when the staff tends to intervene, it's much easier knowing what times to post a story.

It's a handy utility, yet I've been burned too many times to entirely trust it, and I'm just more comfortable posting files manually.

Usually, it's easiest if you replace the wrong chapter with the right chapter via a repost and simply resume posting subsequent chapters normally.

I have tried doing that. However, when I go to the repost chapter link, I cannot find the chapter I wish to replace in the drop down list for the book. Any ideas?
