I wanted to use an expression from my childhood in a story. It contains the verb 'trump', which means something like walking heavy-footedly. A quick scan of dictionaries on google showed no existence of that meaning. But a SOL search on 'trumping' found 53 stories in which at least 5 were used with the meaning I failed to find.
I'm tempted to use the expression as I remember it but will it be so unfamiliar as to disengage the readers?
