I had just reread The Hawk and the chipmunk by The Scot and there was one scean where he has one of his researchers who invented a small EMP device to make a number of them and a bigger one for wide shots. This is where I think I am going crazy. In my mind I remember a lot more happens than what is in the story. Almost as if what I see was from a movie.

The story was written by The Scot and first chapter was posted in 2005 and the last chapter was posted in 2010. You may have read the original story.
In the Forum, Ernest Bywater announced The Scot asked him to take over his stories, and he indicated that The Scot's stories needed to be updated. Apparently, Ernest encouraged The Scot to continue writing by revising his stories. According to The Scot's blog, The Scot revised it and reposted it in 2017. I don't know what The Scot changed in revising the story.

That's most likely it as I just DL'ed it and it was 300kb larger than my copy. The strange thing is that I pretty much never reread a story online that I had already downloaded as I prefer reading in my ebook reader.
