It was 1972. My grandfather and I were traveling through Manhattan because we needed to go in for him to get something at work. He was an engineer for WABC-TV7 and I would often go with him if we went on the weekend. We passed a large construction site. I remember him smiling as he looked at the heavy machinery and up towards the clear sky.
"Kid," he grinned, "when this is done, these building are so advanced that they will easily be standing here 100 years from now!"
Oh, grandpa, if you only knew about 30 years later.
