I started working on a new story this weekend that is different from what I usually write. My MC is a teenage girl living in a small town in Georgia who works, or worked for, the richest man in town. 'Rich' is a relative term because the story takes place during the depression.
I'm writing it from a third-person omni pov, again, not my usual style. I often find that when I do something outside my normal naughty-teenager lane, the story meets a resounding thud, but I like the challenge of doing something different.
At least my MC is a teenage girl, so I guess it's not that different.
