Hello everyone.
I wrote “A Life Discovered” as an experiment. I had an idea for a story and wanted to see if I could write it down and whether people would enjoy it. But it's now got to the point where it needs some work if I'm going to complete the story the way I want to.
So here's what's happening:
- I've started going back over the already-published chapters and updating them. The characters pretty much do and say the same things in the same scenes, but I think the text now conveys the story better and is easier to read. Right now, updated chapters 1-4 are online. There's no need to go back and reread them to follow the story, but if you want to, I'd be grateful for any additional comments on whether you think they're an improvement.
- I've been trying to stick to one chapter representing one day in the story. But the characters have moved from doing pretty much everything together to doing more things alone or in pairs. That means it takes more words to describe what happens to all of them that day, and the chapters have been growing steadily longer. That also means it takes longer to write them, and so they get published less frequently.
- I’ve written the plot summary for the next three chapters, but I won’t start to flesh them out into full chapters until I’ve either finished updating the existing ones or your feedback tells me that this whole thing’s a bad idea. So there will be a short delay before new work appears.
The aim is to improve the current text, better structure the rest of the story, and switch to shorter, more frequently published future chapters.
