Next Project Poll: Which Story Should I Write First?

Posted at

I'm at a decision point with my next project and want to hear from you.

I have two complete story outlines ready to go. Both are father/daughter. Both are dark. But they hit very different registers, and I can only focus on one at a time.

I'm not asking which one I should write — I'm going to write both eventually. I'm asking which one you want to see first.

Option A: Ugly Bastard / Aku-Oyaji Corruption Arc

The Setup:

• Repulsive older man (think: peak ugly bastard archetype)
• Teenage daughter + her best friend
• Systematic corruption through leverage, blackmail, and psychological manipulation
• Multiple POVs (the girls — you're inside their heads as it happens)
• Heavy focus on physical revulsion vs. involuntary response
• Explicit scenes rendered in detail
• Pregnancy as endpoint

The Focus:
This one leans hard into the erotic/transgressive elements. The ugly bastard archetype is the point. The revulsion is the point. The corruption — psychological and physical — is the engine. Character development exists to serve the eroticism. If you're here for the visceral, boundary-pushing, "I can't believe I'm reading this" experience, this is that story.

Tone:
Dark erotica with horror elements. Oppressive, inevitable, designed to generate conflicting responses in the reader.

Option B: Romantic Father/Daughter with Emotional Weight

The Setup:

• Father and daughter navigating complex emotional/romantic territory
• NOT vanilla romance — this includes heartache, mistakes, consequences, character growth
• Relationship develops over time (not instalove, not purely transactional)
• Heavier focus on interiority, psychology, the why behind choices
• Explicit scenes present but serving character development rather than being the primary driver
• Explores the genuine emotional complexity of a taboo relationship

The Focus:
This one leans into character, emotional stakes, and relationship dynamics. The eroticism is still there, but it's layered with guilt, longing, tenderness, conflict. If you're here for the feelings — the messy, complicated, "this is wrong but I'm invested in these people" experience — this is that story.

Tone:
Dark romance with literary ambitions. Intimate, psychologically complex, designed to make you feel as much as react.

So: Which One First?

These aren't substitutes for each other. They scratch different itches. One is about corruption and physicality. The other is about connection and emotional mess. Both are dark. Both are father/daughter. Both will push boundaries in their own ways.

Vote in the comments:

Option A if you want the ugly bastard corruption story first
Option B if you want the romantic f/d story first

And if you have the time: tell me why. What appeals to you about that option? What are you hoping to get out of it? I'm genuinely curious where your preferences lie.

Third Option?

If neither of these sound like what you're craving, feel free to mention what genre/dynamic you'd most want to see from me in a future project. I'm not taking story requests — this isn't a commission thread — but I am interested in understanding what resonates with my readers.

(Examples: sibling incest, age gap non-incest, supernatural/fantasy taboo, historical setting, different POV structure, etc.)

Your feedback genuinely helps me prioritize what to work on next.
