“Happy Anniversary to Me!”
In the fall of 2023, I wondered to myself: “If I wrote erotic fiction, would anyone read it?”
So, on December 1, 2023, I joined a site that publishes literature that’s erotic. Eight days later, I published my first porn story. And as it turned out, some people actually would read what I write. And some of those readers would even enjoy what I write!
And thus began the world of Story Freya and her boyfriend, Alex (soon to be fiancé, and then husband), and their two best friends, Cynthia and Katie. And since then, a whole slew of other fun characters like Akari and Maureen, Tartura, various hippos, Cackle Chicken the amazing superhero, Adam and Oriella, and more!
Here I am, two years later, and I’ve written stories totaling around 500,000 words. This includes two novels, a dozen or so novellas, a whole bunch of short stories, poems, a kooky “Mad Libs” type thing, some blog posts, and more stuff that I’m probably forgetting. I’ve made some good online friends like Alex, Figgy, Horse, and Bassy. I hooked up with a publisher and I now have my work available for purchase. Although the sales end up being pennies per hour of time spent writing, THAT is still truly a dream come true! And on top of all those amazing things, I have a subscription site coming up. So stay tuned in to the Freya-verse for that!!
And now, as I cast my gaze into my third year of writing smut and smut-adjacent stories, I wonder what comes next for the Freya Empire.
Well, over the last few months, a couple of readers have asked how they could show me their undying appreciation for my work. Of course, purchasing a downloadable book from Bookapy is a great way!
But they’ve done that.
Sharing my links is another good way for a reader to show that they care.
They’ve done that, too.
Sending me a respectful email/message or engaging with me online is always nice. But they also do that.
One of them asked about sending me an actual real item. A token of their appreciation. A little something extra. A gift.
Of course, I was flattered! I told them that that was not necessary. But this reader was quite insistent. Politely insistent, but insistent nonetheless.
I always thought that I would write something, someone would pay for a download, and everyone would be happy. The end. I had no idea that I, little ol’ Real Life Freya, would become a thing. I mean, it seems obvious now, but I guess my self-deprecating disposition ignored the fact that readers would actually care about the real person behind the stories.
So, here we are.
I’ve forked over the few hundred bucks needed to create a way for readers to shower me with gifts and presents and anything else that they deem appropriate. With appropriate being the operative word!
Now, I’m not going to tell anyone my bra size. I’m not going to tell them what sex toys I want (none, by the way – my tastes are quite conservative in that respect). Besides, all of that is private and between my husband and me. I write erotica and that’s where the public sexy stuff ends.
I talked a good friend of my husband’s into agreeing to open a post office box in his town and then forward any mail to me. You can contact me privately for that information, but bear in mind that I’ve gone to some lengths to protect myself. The post office box is not near my actual residence, and it will not be monitored by me, so there’s no personal information to be gained by a random reader.
When I told a few readers that I would be opening a physical mailing address, they did ask what types of things would be appropriate. Now, I know that some women who dabble in the sexy side of things online have a wish list and they get lingerie and whips and chains and whatnot that they then model for their viewers. But all I do is write, and readers can just contact me online and I can write a commission for them – no need for physical mail there.
Well, although any small gift anyone would care to send would be so appreciated by me, I do have a thought. This reader really pressed for some specific ideas!
Around the same time that I embarked on my erotic fiction journey, I found a really cool and really old silver quarter. I did some online research and kind of slowly fell into coin collecting. As a neat little hobby, the change has done me good. Ba-dum-tss! Get it? Change. Coins. Ha ha!!
Aaanyyywaayyy… with about a billion different types of coins in existence (and many of them quite expensive!), I quickly decided to focus on silver coins. I think they’re pretty and they can still be found “in the wild,” as they say, like that first quarter that I found in my change.
So, silver coins would be a MUCH appreciated surprise to receive in the mail!
And the best part is that they can be found in the return slot of those coin counting machines at the supermarket for free, they can be found in change, or even just purchased outright. And many of them are under five dollars US (at the current price of silver). So, you could totally make my day for less than one of those “buy me a coffee” things! If this is something that interests you, contact me (Bluesky, Twitter, via email, or through my publisher) and I’ll be more than happy to fill you in on what to look for, as I’m sure that not many people know a lot about numismatics (that’s the fancy word for “coin stuff”!) and I can provide you with the mailing address for my friend’s P.O. Box.
Let’s celebrate my porn anniversary, everyone!!!
Thank you all so much for traveling thus far on my erotic fiction journey. I have BIG plans for the upcoming year, so be sure to stay tuned!!!
Love, Frey
