I don't know if you follow HBO's The last of Us or play the video game.
in my opinion, it's strong storytelling and great characters. it's an end of the world story, but it's more than that because it's about love and redemption and vengeance and universal themes.
I think it's often compared to walking Dead and that's a fair comparison.. they both elevate the genre but in my opinion, this one does things better on a lot of levels.
it focuses on only a few people.
two in particular are Joel and Ellie
it's not a spoiler if you watch or play the video games, but quick warning. I'm about to spoil it for you if you don't know...Joel dies
it's a pivotal and traumatic moment in the story. I identify in a lot of ways with Joel. in many ways, without him I have lost some interest in the story
however, I can't deny that it's a good story. it's a well-written story. it's a well-told story. it's a well-presented story in the context of how it is visualized in the game and in the TV series.
and yet it got 51% on rotten tomatoes.
Think about that. 51%? That's a 5.1 here at Sol. is it a 5.1?
is it just average?
is it mediocre? absolutely not.
what has happened is some "bros" do the same thing they do here..
They don't like some of the lesbian and gayelements and the more progressive ways in the story, and so they lash out at it with review bombs.
it's The last resort of a small and powerless little man who has no actual effect on the real world. they are trying to review bomb a show that is largely beloved and has already proven that it is a good story.
What do you think they get out of it? do they "win"? are they convincing anybody to actually not watch the show?
