Err...ssn/'card'...
Why put that card in quotes? Everyone who has a social security card knows that it's a terribly fragile piece of paper.
Yet, for all intents and purposes in the USA it has become the universal ID. Even though it doesn't have your photo, and by law it's not supposed to be made of anything but the most flimsy paper short of tissue.
Why am I griping? Because my social security card which is supposed to be in a file folder in my filing cabinet, or in the box of stuff I keep for final job applications (they want to hire me and need a copy of the actual social security card....) Doesn't seem to be in either expected place. I'm terribly badly disorganized, so probably I put it elsewhere and simply don't remember where....
A somewhat organized partner would be helpful. But about as likely as pigs growing wings and flying.....
I'll keep looking but generally if I've not found something in the first few minutes of looking it can then take weeks!
And given ID theft being rampant the government in it's infinite wisdom has limited the number of replacement social security cards you can request.... See my original rant, because even without misplacement (mostly due to trying to prevent wear on a fragile piece of paper) normal wear if you carried the social security card with you would destroy it in no time flat.
