I just submitted chapter 14 for Free Magus. As usual, the next three chapters are available on my P@tr30n page for those who subscribe.
I know that late last year and earlier this year, I was posting more, and that has once again slowed down. I apologize for that. At that time, I was working in a call center where I was able to work on chapters for Free Magus and start planning out later stories for this series. Then my car broke down and I couldn't get to work (53 miles trip, one way). As it turned out, my dealership wasn't willing to work with me on paying for the broken transmission (6-gear manual that would only go into 3rd and 4th gears). They wanted full payment for the repairs up front and I owed less than the cost of repairs on the car. I told them to keep the car as it was no good to me in that condition and I didn't have $7,000 on hand for repairs.
So, now, I'm working in a much closer town. I ride back and forth with a co-worker. The job itself is driving an appointment-scheduled bus (not the kind that just repeat a pre-determined route, but we'll pick someone up at their home and drive them to the hospital for an appointment, or other similar trips). Unfortunately, for my writing, I have to write stuff on paper and then type it all in when I get the chance at home. Weekends offer the best opportunities.
Well, things just picked up. I recently acquired a desk for free (rough condition, but functional), and I have an office chair. So, now, I'm in a better position, literally, to get a lot more typing done. Before, I was in a recliner with my laptop on one of those tiny laptop tables you can buy at Walmart. Now that I'm upright for typing, I'm getting a lot more done.
Now, to get internet...
Currently, I have to transfer the chapter files to my phone and upload them using it, since that's the only persistent internet connection I have.
And I thought Internet Access was declared a Utility - like electricity and water??? If anyone knows anything on this, shoot me a note.
Anyway, new chapters are coming. In fact, I don't believe there will be more than twenty. So, after I've posted all of the chapters on my P@tr30n page, I'll wait about a week between each new chapter here on SOL.
As I mentioned, I have already started planning out the next story, which will be titled, Sovereign Magus. Here's the description:
Seth has returned home and is forced to stay with his various Fonti due to the events prior to his departure. While this throws things off a bit for House Ursae, something feels more than a little out-of-touch between himself and the members of his House. An accident occurs that could indicate that Seth is not the right person as Lord. Seth investigates the accident, trying to discern why it happened. But will he succeed when someone in his House seems determined to abdicate his authority.
I plan on including chapters which will star Seth's various Fonti, much like I did with Sibling Magus. This way, everyone will get caught up in their progressions in the series. This will also include the new Fonti Seth acquired from the end of Rogue Magus. Not to mention finding out what the real difference was between all his regular Fonti and the bond he forged with Lisa Hartwell.
Sovereign Magus should flow easier that Free Magus has, mostly because I have a lot already planned for the new story.
