Finalizing chapter 10 now to finish strong in the "Keeping the Womenfolk in Line-Bible" story.
I wonder if anyone noticed the "Because of Winn Dixie" references?
EASTER EGGS:
Oscar Buloni (no my middle name is not "Meyer") - He shares his last name with Opal Buloni - the main character of "Because of Winn Dixie". I thought it would be clever if his first name was Oscar and that put a chip on his shoulder about the reference to Oscar Meyer Balogna.
The story is set in small town Florida - Just like Because of Winn Dixie. I had someone say "It is set in A small town" but in this context it is a setting like "The Wild West" or "Suburban Middle America" - if you lived in small town Florida you can picture the muggy heat, the rednecks, the old buildings, the gravel roads.
The name of the town is fictional - Naomi, Florida. It is the same town used in "Because of Winn Dixie"
Lastly, Opal's father is never named in the book (as far as I know) but the actor who played him (small town preacher with a church that shares space in a gas station) was Jeff Daniels and I chose to name him Jeff Buloni.
If you are wondering who that lovely lady in the opening picture is- she is an instagram/twitter model. BrittanyXoxO and she is just the peachiest, sweetest, nicest, most optimistic person possible. This was really a fan-fiction. I love how she is like "Hey, I am just me!" and always looking on the positive of everything. I wanted to capture that in the character in this story and hence the reason I named this character "Brittany"
She has this positive mom-energy that is so incredibly hot and pure. In no way am I attempting to claim that the character in the story IS BrittanyXOXO though - or that she shares any of the religious beliefs. She was just inspired by her.
The inspiration for Brittany in this story is an homage to a hot woman who shares so much of herself with the world. She does way more than post cute photos. She often posts really uplifting messages on her Twitter. That's something that I look forward too daily. I wanted to put that out there.
