More people need training on the proper way to give feedback. I was taught that you "give praise in public and criticism in private." This helps boost egos and images publicly, while ensuring that the recipient receives the proper guidance on improving his/her work.
Too often, on this site, I have received criticism in the comments section of my story (public), while getting positive feedback to my email box (private). It's backwards. The encouragement has helped me to continue my story. The criticism has made me want to conclude the story as quickly as possible, or even give up.
I'm soldiering on, trying to bring New Beginning to a logical stopping point. But it has become harder to build the story, especially when people tell me the protagonist is an asshole, without telling me why.
