If not for Vulgus - I would not be writing.
There is no doubt in my mind about that. His stories were such a huge turn on for me.
I didn't think I could write. I have terrible grammatical habits. I dabbled at it. Most of the initial feedback I received was terrible and quite discouraging.
If you sort my stories by earliest - you will probably agree. I didn't have MS word or any spellcheck. I was doing the best I could with what I had at the time.
I think the ideas were solid - Naked in the trailer park was my take on the "Naked in the School" stories - except rather than focus on school, I wanted to focus on what happened around the trailer park.
My first real solid story was "Do you have a big dick, why not?"
It was about a woman who did webcam shows with her daughters. There are real women out there who do that. It's not that uncommon really. They were trashy girls who had been raised with loose morals.
In the story, the titular line happens when one of the girls introduces a boy to her. She asks him if he has a big dick, money or cocaine - because if not - why is he even talking to her. He is wasting her time without at least one of those things.
The story will take you on some twists and turns.
The next big one for me was "HOA: Big Day in Sunny Manor" - B.D.S.M is what Big Day in Sunny Manor stands for. I should have titled it "Big Dick in Sunny Manor" now that I think on that - but no one in the story had a huge hog.
Anyway, the idea there was that this vanilla family moves to a kink-friendly community in Tampa. (These also exist). In this case, the parents are into BDSM. They sort of underestimate just how freaky this place is.
I thought that was a great premise for a story. This is perhaps my longest story yet. I really enjoyed writing it. I was channeling a couple of my favorite stories when I wrote it. The unfinished "HOA" by Mister Archie, some of Vulgus's stories that involve groups of kinky-friendly communities, etc.
I wrote a lot of side characters into that story. It was fun to sort of tease about this living community that had a rich background. The guy who worked for the community manager's sister was one of the pony girls in his stable. She used to be a hot cheerleader in college - she made more money working as a show pony than she ever would have as a profesional cheerleader (or a stripper) though.
Anyway, I've written more short stories since then - by short I mean around 8-12 chapters each. They aren't epics. I have a lot of ideas and very limited time to write.
My most recent story is based on one of the first stories by Vulgus I ever read. I fell in love with the characters. At the end, I was asking "Okay, so what happens NEXT?"
Which is the sign of a great story.
I asked Vulgus if he would permit me to continue Lori's journey. My version is taking a few twists that I hope Vulgus would approve of. Lori asks her brother to do it to her again. She can't stop thinking about the kinky shit she did with him.
Vulgus hinted about some of it involuntarily turned her on when it first happened. It was all there in the subtext.
The problem I have is that the first chapter has FOUR THOUSAND downloads.
Every other chapter has bumpkis downloads.
That tells me that the first chapter sucks.
There is a dream sequence in that first chapter - because I wanted to set the tone for how wild Lori's fantasies were. I took a chance there with how I set up that chapter. It doesn't seem to have paid off.
If people aren't intrigued enough to click "next chapter" then it means I lost them as a reader.
On the other hand, maybe they busted a nut and just like a porn video on Porntube - they closed the browser and never came back to it.
In any case, the subsequent chapters are better (IMHO) - just nobody reading them.
So my question to you - is should I cap this one around chapter 8 and call it standing in the shadow of a giant like Vulgus? I mean he is a tough act to follow.
I have other stories I could work on. I also have a few still unfnished. Keeping my Sister in Line definitely had some excitement around it - with 31 comments on a 12 chapter story.
