Chapter 17 is in the queue. The lives of James Mercer and those that matter the most to him are about to change. He is no longer just a college instructor of mathematics; his other talents are being recognized by those in Washington who wield power and influence. James and his bunch are about to experience a life totally alien to them. It is going to be interesting to see how they change with it.
The next chapter in the story Trust and Verify should post soon. Things are looking up; my ISP is back and running, have a new editor, and my problem with format seems to have corrected itself. My editor from here on out will be pepere. I just hope he knows what he signed up for.

This has been a frustrating week. The good part is I get “Trust and Verify” up to a successful start and a competent editor to agree to work with me. Thanks, Al. I hope we have good partnerships here.
Then my ISP-supplied equipment takes a dump and knocks me off the internet. I tried to use my phone to transfer a file to my new editor. With little success, I finally got one sent and then realized it was the wrong one. I am sure my volunteer editor wonders what he signed up for.
My ISP promises to have a new internet black box for me by Wednesday. We shall see. Meanwhile, I am attempting to use the free internet at the local McDonald's to attempt to upload an unedited file to keep interest going in the story and, at the same time, to my editor. We shall see how that works out.
So far, not so good. I have had several timeouts so far. The connect speed here is just slightly faster than dial-up.
New chapter will be available shortly. Things here on out will start to become more interesting. James Mercer shows his true strength of his intellectual abilities and his determination.
Several readers have notified me that Chapter Five, "The Mission" seemed incomplete and they were right.
I went ahead and reposted the chapter. This will probably make the story line easier to follow. Not sure what happened there.
