I guess most of the people following me are doing so for Godless and Faithless, but I still love me some weird stroke stories and book 3 is harder to plot out.
So I'm posting a story I've been sitting on since last year. It's the same world as Feminist Sorority and is set in their highschool branch.
Hope you enjoy.
now a post to remind readers about locations Axel and Rayner have visited so far.
Right now they are in Alta, a country made up of 3 regions and a territory.
Alea region was good farmland until the Inimi pillaged everything. It is also where Ridgehill is located.
Alis region has more monster activity. The monsters are weak but so are the worshipers that live there. A field of Miasma used to be here before Axel sealed it away, leaving only a half-formed dungeon.
Then there is the Alka region, where the capital of Alta is located. Despite being the most important region, citizens know little about it. Vix lived there before being trapped by the miasma.
Grayhaven is a mountain city of dwarves and humans that was attacked by the Inimi. Rayner pushed Axel into helping and they rallied the forces to help people escape and hold Inimi of until Coalition came to the rescue. They didn't stay to get a reward or answer questions.
Earth. I just call it homeworld in my own notes. This earth is set in the near future where all the things we fear now are coming true. Robots taking people's jobs and global warming causing real damage and corporations have too much power.
Axel is forced to work for gangsters and Rayner feels useless as living advertisement for the corporations.
I count these as Major character's even though some don't have POVs. So much of what is happening is because of them. Some new info in here as well.
Yazid- dark eyes, black hair
Sent his life force to Axel and Rayner's world. This created a copy of himself. One in both worlds. He remained a teen for 20 years, amassing wealth. He went to a magic school. Died of old age & exhaustion when Axel and Rayner arrived in new world.
Grace Harman- brothel owner at Ridgehill. Wears fine cut dress showing cleavage. Her brothel fell on hard times and she hopes business will pick back up when soldiers stay there. Has Axel and Rayner contracted for protection in exchange for info.
She has her own ambitions and wishes to be more than a councilwoman and brothel owner.
Sheena- a spy for a mysterious organization. Was also watching Yazid before his death. She buried him. She believes something is wrong with the events transpiring, but does exactly know what. Her superiors are uninterested in her theories.
General Kent- of the first eastern army group of the Inimi making a final push into Alta. His superiors are not happy with the failure to take control of a small country like Alta.
Lieutenant Bannan Geraldo- works under General Kent and has failed to take Ridgehill, Grayhaven, and the region of Alea. He is planning another attack. It is his final chance to prove himself
Posting chapter first thing tomorrow.
I have toned down the amount of stats in the story but it is very important to understand how the characters progress. So here is a description of them. Some new info in here, so spoilers.
Title: A position that is earned
Level: Average of attributes strength skill and intelligence
Race: species of the character (This stat is not shown often)
Class: How attributes are used/manifested, advanced users are better able to focus mana into attributes.
Life Force/Mana: Amount of power that can be used for physical/magical skills
Skills: special techniques either for combat or utility can be active or passive.
Experience: used as currency and offering to the gods
God express power with Blessings and Curses. Usually used on locations, items, or persistent effect on people: Skills
Gods get power from experience and give it to worshipers.
Rayner and Axel use skills without the need of gods by focusing on feelings of pain. Axel's attributes are expressed through battle wisdom and Rayner's through charisma against enemies.
Mana manipulation: supplementary skill used by high-level Worshipers. It allows users to use skills with more flexibility, pushing them to their limits. Also, it's how people use magic.
Magic: the combination of skills to provide desired effects
Weight and Focus for Attributes.
Weight is where most mana goes into attribute. Focus is how that weighted attribute is used. Roddrick will teach Axel and Rayner how to use this essential and basic technique.
Example is Axel's mana heavily weighted in wisdom but Focus is how he uses it, like to form better battle plans.
Of course worshipers use different attributes and it can be focused in different ways. Worshipers don't need to be well weighted in an attribute to focus it.
If all this sounds like too much, all you need to know is for everyone except Rayner and Axel, gods are needed for power and mana and experience is used for that power.
Unlike other gamelit, litrpg, stat driven stories, I don't use numbers for attributes as it varies by how much mana is put into the attribute(weight) and many are used differently depending on the person(Focus) using numbers wouldn't work, and honestly, I think in many stat driven stories, the stats become random and hard to comprehend.
So for this story I will keep the numbers light and small. I use it more to show how long a characters can last in a fight, how many times they should be able to use a skill and where they are after important fights and events.
You've seen Axel and Rayner get frustrated at their progression as they are used to leveling systems where you level up when you beat up enough enemies. Sometimes they get nothing for great deeds.
Any questions, message or comment. Will answer if it's not too spoilery.
