Just looked at the list of top recent stories and I have 16 out of the 50 shown. Wow! Surprised me and gave me a different perspective on the scoring. Thanks to my fans!
My comments about scoring have elicited a lot of messages to me, many favorable thank goodness. I'm still puzzled by the scoring though. In looking at the stats for a current score of 5.02 for Party Pussy, I am really puzzled. Considering that a score of 7 is far and away the most common, and the total scores of 6 and above are easily twice the number of those 5 and below, why does it end up the value it is? Doesn't match any statistics I've learned. The webmaster tried to explain his algorithm once but it was rather vague and didn't make sense to me. Empirically it doesn't seem good.
Oh, well. It is the reader comments that I pay the most attention to anyway. Guess I shouldn't get annoyed.
If you don't like very short stories that use minimal words to make a point, then don't even read them, let alone put poorer scores than they technically deserve. My last Flash story got banged like the whore it wasn't. It's fun as an author to just do a "quickie" so I'll just disable voting if it happens again.
Because I declared it with my frequent alliterative flair. I have a bunch written so I'll post one each Friday (unless I forget). I'm encouraging other authors who like this little play with words to do the same.
"Stephanie" has some significant formatting and odd character problems yet there is no way to reach the author that I know of. It's their first story so why be shy?
