Today's story post is the first part of a four-part tome. These stories are not about military campaigns or conquests. They are about American Society and Culture. I will post the other parts whenever I can clean up the drafts. (I do not use an editor or a proof reader - and it shows).
When civilians listen to my soldier and Marine friends drink and babble, a common question is Are U.S. Army soldiers and U.S. Marines really that politically incorrect?
Yes. Marines and soldiers have disparaging and critical and mocking words for every race and creed and sexual orientation. But they do not care about your race or creed or sex orientation. The U.S. Army and U.S Marine Corps are also the most meritocratic and the most progressive elements of American society in the purest sense of 'progressive'. They quickly adapted to the huge cultural change from DADT to accepting and allowing openly homosexual and bisexual people serving. And for the last five years, the Army and Marine Corps has committed significant resources to the incorporation of their female members into all types of units and career paths. The American military, in general, does not care about their members' sexual orientation or political bent - they only care that you can do your job without fucking up the mission. The Army and Marine Corps serves a republic democracy, but the Army and Marine Corps are not democratic institutions, and the only people that have to be 'politically correct' are senior officers and command sergeant majors - mostly to assuage the sensitivities of our ignorant and lazy and fat politicians, and our drug and media-addled civilian population.
