My story "Dream House" did not finish in the top 3 of this year's Halloween contest. That means it's now available in the general story population for you all to read. Enjoy it at https://storiesonline.net/s/31849/dream-house

"Unexpected Valentine" is no longer restricted to Premier

The winners of SOL's contests are kept in the Premier section for 6 months after the contest ends. The 6 months for this year's Valentine's Day contest is now up so they are available to be read with a normal membership.

My 2nd-place story, "Unexpected Valentine," is now available to all. It's link is: https://storiesonline.net/s/30342/unexpected-valentine

For self-preservation, he shuns the world around him. If he is invisible, he won't be bullied and ridiculed. That results in a lonely and miserable existence until he meets the girl of his dreams. New version of old story posted

Someone recently sent me a message to let me know that she loved one of my stories — "His Friend's Mother." The story is so old that I didn't recognize the title so I read it. I didn't even remember it while reading it. But what I did notice was how poorly the story was written.

I don't go back and edit old stories, but this one had so many glaring errors that I felt compelled to. There were formatting errors, punctuation errors, even missing words. And the worst one was that it started by saying the mother's son's best friend was older than him. Yet the son was 14 and the friend only 12 throughout the story. Oops. A 12-year-old having sex is no longer allowed on SOL, but this old story was grandfathered. However, when I revised the story I changed the boy's age to 14. I also noticed the "rape" tag was missing. "Non-consent" and "blackmail" were included, but not "rape." At the time, I probably felt the mother would have done it anyway because of the blackmail, but the scene gets rather physical at one point so it needs the "rape" tag.

Anyway, all 11 chapters of "His Friend's Mother" have been revised and re-posted — https://storiesonline.net/s/57809/his-friends-mother

Unexpected Valentine

My story "Unexpected Valentine" came in 2nd place in the Valentine's Day contest (always the bridesmaid). https://storiesonline.net/s/30342/unexpected-valentine

Since it finished in the top 3, it will remain in the Premier section for 6 months. If you have a Premier membership, you can read it now. If not, you'll have to wait until it's released into the free area.

I had planned to post the next chapter of "The Nymphomaniac" today, but I have a lot going on so I doubt I will be able. I'll try tomorrow morning, but I have my annual physical in the morning and my doctor is a 45 minute to 1 hour drive depending on traffic so it depends on how early I wake up.

SOL votes and Bookapy reviews

People seem to vote on SOL stories more than they give reviews on Bookapy. I'm not surprised about that. Or maybe it's not true if you consider the percentage of people who can vote/review it. There are considerably more readers for SOL stories so you would expect more votes.

I was wondering about a unique situation, like with my latest novel, "The Nymphomaniac." I published the novel on Bookapy, but then decided to post a chapter a week on SOL. People have given it reviews on Bookapy and others have voted on it on SOL.

What I was wondering is, if someone starts the novel on SOL and then buys it on Bookapy, when they finish the novel do they go back to SOL and vote on it? Even if they give it a review on Bookapy, would they go back to SOL and give it a score there?

I guess those are rhetorical questions. I'm not really expecting an answer. Thinking about it just kept me up last night. LOL

Btw, I've been posting the chapters to "The Nymphomaniac," Monday or Tuesday mornings, but since I went bowling Tuesday morning I didn't get to post the latest chapter until Tuesday afternoon (my time). Just thought I'd mention that.
