I am always amazed at how often life imitates art, and vice versa. I was talking to my mother the other day and she informed me that my godson, my youngest nephew and her youngest grandson, had just enlisted in the Army. He will be in MP training and is the third boy in my sister's family to go into the service. He'll be in AIT at Fort Leonard Wood, where an older brother is a drill instructor. I doubt they will be assigned together. We are all very proud of him but the reason it seemed so odd to me was the art-life bit. He's a smart boy, but he's dropped out of two colleges and been working as a chef for a couple of years, and now is going into the Army. It immediately reminded me of the Grim Reaper, who joined up because he didn't have anything better to do. Strange what the mind thinks of at times.
