Accuracy Alert! The restaurant mentioned in Chapter 4 exists, and it's very nice (and expensive!) The accuracy problem is that it currently is not open for lunch. Between the pandemic and staffing shortages, it now opens mid- to late-afternoon depending on the day, though the signs on the door still show lunchtime hours. I am sure it will be open for lunch again soon. I learned this after I wrote the story. In the meantime, the eagle-eyed truthfulness detectors will just have to let this one slip by.

Chapter 2 is a shorter chapter, but that's the way things work out sometime.
My wife worked at a grocery store for about twelve years but retired this fall because of Covid. No, she didn't get it; we're vaccinated. It was because so many of the customers coming in refused to get the vaccine or wear masks. It was a political thing for them, and they knew it was all a hoax because they read about it on Facebook. The line about Great Aunt Margie dying of Covid? Real life. She was told by the woman's daughter that it didn't mean anything because she was old anyway. Other people told her they were taking their children out of school and were homeschooling them because they didn't want any vaccines, not even measles or polio. I can't wait to hear what they say when little Billy or Suzy end up dead. I can't make this shit up.

This is a new story, the last element of my latest collection, Naughty Stories. The Bridge Club is the story of a young man, Cullum Doyle, whose mother is a member of a bridge club. One of the members has had a couple of drinks too many and Cullie is asked to help get her home. Things get more complicated.
