Just wanted to post an update for any one of the 60-something people who care. I'm not dead, just really busy. And I went through a period of not wanting to write for a while after I finished my last story. But I'm back to working on my next one, which is a supernatural brother-sister... well, I won't exactly say romance. There's fucking.
It's tough to have a story with supernatural elements of your own design. You have to explain everything to the reader, without doing an exposition dump, because who wants to read a bunch of lore in an erotic story?
I'm about 12k words into this one now. Sorry, but I won't be releasing it in chapters though, because I keep adding little bits of foreshadowing and style flair into the earlier parts, and it's largely self-contained.
I'm excited about writing again though, so that's a big plus. I'd like to have the story finished by the end of June, but I can't promise anything. Actually no, I can promise one thing: It's a relatively niche story, and those who like it will appreciate that it's unique.
I think my goal when writing an erotic story is to make people say "Damn, I didn't know I was into this, but now I'm really into this."
I got a few DMs like that about "Mom's Sleeping Pills" and they seriously made my day. Anyhow, comments and DMs are always welcome, love to hear from you guys.
The third and final chapter of "Mom's Sleeping Pills" is in the can, and pending moderation.
It feels good to have a story out of your head and out for other people to read. I know not everyone is going to like the ending, but I went where the story took me.
It was a learning experience, and I have to say, I don't think I'm going to release chapters as I write them, anymore. At least, not unless the story is much longer form, or episodic. I had a beginning, middle, and end planned for this story, and I really felt like I had to finish it before I could work on any other stories. By the end, it kind of felt like a chore to edit, and I really hope that doesn't come across in the narrative.
I'm currently juggling writing two VERY different stories, now that MSP is finished, and I'm super excited about both of them. They're both a bit more dialogue-heavy than MSP, so I don't know how long it'll be before one or the other is ready to publish.
The first is a mother-son blackmail/manipulation story, and the second is a supernatural brother/sister transformation tale. I hope you look forward to both.
I have a lot of fun writing the rough draft of a story. You know what isn't a whole lot of fun, though? Going over a story, dressing it up, fixing any inconsistencies or continuity errors, and getting all the spelling and grammar taken care of. And you know what really sucks? Realizing that you used certain words way too often and then having to beat yourself over the head with a thesaurus.
I have the final chapter of "Mom's Sleeping Pills" all laid out in front of me, but it's tough to work on a story when your brain keeps telling you that it's finished.
I have two other stories that I have to keep taking notes for, because my brain would rather be working on them than making sure chapter 3 is presentable.
I can promise you this, though: my next story is gonna be completely finished before I release any part of it. I know I'm leaving people hanging after chapter 2, and I hate it. But I promise, chapter 3 is coming. I've already added nearly two thousand words to the rough draft, and I'm not even halfway done. People of Earth, lend me your energy!
Chapter 2 of Mom's Sleeping Pills is out now.
I actually wrote the rough draft for the whole rest of the story, but when I started rewriting it, I decided to chop it up into two chapters.
I hope to have chapter 3 up by the end of next week. Enjoy, and be sure to let me know what you thought.
Oh wow, I just noticed this feature. I'm gonna start using this to talk about upcoming chapters, new stories, random ideas and thoughts, etc. I'd love to use it for polls, as well.
I'm about halfway done with editing and rewriting the second (and final) chapter of "Mom's Sleeping Pills". I think I already know which story I'll be working on after that, but it might take a bit. I want to release it all at once, instead of in chapters. Sometimes a story works better if you don't needlessly chop it up into pieces.
