It's finaly out

My newest story finally got posted. I know, I promised Tuesday, but I accidentally erased half of it and had to reconstruct it. I'm a bit of a technophobe anyway, it's a miracle I get anything done at all.

Thanks to all those who read my Bloodcost books. The third titled Bloodcost, is done and will be available by next Thursday. Originally it was supposed to be a trilogy, but ended up being one, maybe two more books. I'm halfway through number four, and my target is the last week of September. Number five, if it's needed should be ready by Halloween.

I have two more romances and a book of short stories I'm working on in my(HA!)spare time, hopefully at least one of them will be ready by Christmas. Thanks to all who read my stories, any comments and votes are appreciated.

It finally happened to me

Someone who was familiar with my work sent me an email today asking if I wrote under the pen Name Nigella Brooks. I do not, but I checked it out, and it was a direct ripoff of my story Boston to Birmingham, under the name Illegal Affairs. The only change made was renaming the main characters. I am pissed beyond words, and have already contacted Amazon. I should hear from them tomorrow.

Since I'm on the subject of published books, thanks again to all who read Walking In Heaven. I won't get rich off it, but I am starting to generate income.

My next effort is a fantasy trilogy. The first two are done and ready to be edited, and I'm halfway done with the last.

I have about forty half finished short stories that I will be posting as I have the time here and on Lit.

Best wishes

Hello again

2016 has been a pretty rough year so far. My brother passed, at forty-nine years old. A diabetic like me, he basically abused himself to death. My younger sister, at the same time, has bounced between hospital and rehab, but seems to be doing better. My Mom, in her early eighties, is having stress issues because of it.

I went to my dermatologist, concerned about a small spot on my nose. She did a biopsy, and called with the results. "Cancer," she said, "but not a biggie. I'll schedule in, we'll do a little scrape, and shoot you across the hall to our plastic surgeons, they'll do a little graft, and in a week nobody will notice any difference."

Two months later, she does the first procedure, which they biopsy and decide to do another, because they found more. Six surgeries and five hours later, they declare me cancer free. The downside is sixty per cent of my nose is gone, including all the cartilege to the bone.

Off to the hospital the next day for a four hour surgery, that included pulling most of my forehead down to rebuild my nose. I looked like Frankenstein on a bad day. 106 stitches to my face, 15 to my ear, where they removed cartilege to rebuild my nose with. Two weeks later I look like I have a space alien worm sitting on my nose. Next week it's back under the knife, to shape my nose. Three weeks after that, I return to normal life, I hope.

The upside of all this is I finally have time to finish a lot of stories I had lying about. The Price of Pussy is the first.

I'd like this opportunity to thanks those once again who bought my book. Especially you guys in Britain and Australia, where I seem to have a bit of a following.

One more kind of humorous note. Part of my pain regulation was two prescriptions of oxy. I quit taking them after five days, because I wasn't hurting much and frankly, the drug scares me. It also led me to post this story on another site, using one of the first drafts. I'll go back and fix it later.

Thanks for reading, and look for more soon,

The Book

Finally, finally, FINALLY!, my first book is out on Amazon. An expanded, novelized version of one of my short stories, A Summer By The Lake, posted under the pen name L H Buff.

And grammarians, I had it edited professionally, now I realize why I avoided you guys. But it made the story much, much better, and I guess I'll be looking for an editor on this site. A lot of you have already volunteered, but shoot me another email if you're still interested.

I have another book finished, due to be edited and formatted, but I probably won't release it until September or October. The Working title is "Walking In Heaven", and while not about religion, it plays an important role in the lives of the main characters.

I also have the first book of a fantasy trilogy done, the first three chapters of the second, and the outline of the third. Look for the first one of those in March.

All that being said, look for more free stories soon, I have two almost completely finished, and about thirty more in various stages of completion. The books and my horrific work schedule have kept me away, but my workload finally stabilized and I have breathing room, so look for something soon.

Thanks, Q
