I realized when I sent Pertinax (who continues to put up with my erratic schedule for reasons I don't understand but appreciate) that I hadn't updated in a while. I don't want anyone to think I've abandoned the story. That is all too common a thing I know but I've just been a bit withdrawn and in a personal place in my head writing and working forward.
Pertinax does have chapter 27 in his hands now so that is coming. I have a lot of notes for chapter 29. Chapter 28 ... there is a pivotal scene and I still don't know how it's going to go. I've decided to back up and rather than write it from a plot perspective to give the new characters involved more background and let it unfold from there.
A decent enough draft to share with my proofreader of chapter 26 is done. Based on thoughts and theories that have been shared with me I think it will surprise some people.
Also, my first book is available on Bookapy for anyone interested in a convenient epub / PDF / mobi file. It is the full text that is chapters 1 - 22 of The Pool Girl here on Storiesonline that goes up through the end of summer. I will probably collect the Fall storyline into its own book once it's done as well.

So, I finally got around to reposting chapters 1 -22, what I consider Book 1 of the Pool Girl with all the feedback I've gotten incorporated. I hope I didn't screw up any ordering and do something like post chapter 17 as 18. We shall see after the queue processes I guess.
In other good writing news I made a LOT of progress on the next chapter today. In fact, I'm trying to decide if the writing should end where it is at or continue. I will probably distract myself with another project and let it percolate in the back of my brain while I consider it.
It's all in the title. It'll be out soon and those who emailed me and asked what the hell Linda was going to do at Robert's are about to find out. I'll be curious about what people think!
As I type this I just finished the first draft for chapter 24 of The Pool Girl. I had planned on a longer chapter but it ended up about 13 pages and 4,200 words. Not everything is resolved that kicked off at the end of chapter 23 but it definitely moves things along and it felt appropriate to do it this way.
Thank you everyone for feedback and those that said they really wanted to see the next chapter soon were very encouraging. Things aren't going to be wrapped up in a neat little package for our protagonists when this current set of events is done but it will move things forward, which is good as events that started over the summer will come back starting in chapter 26 in ways they don't expect.
