You know, I am envious of certain authors. Some authors can post chapter after chapter, maintaining quality and theme and... just wow. I'm in awe of those authors.
Then there's authors like myself. Months between chapters. I had a chapter almost done, or so I thought. Then, I had four days all to myself this weekend, and I knew right away that I wanted to devote it to getting shit done on my story. HA! It took me 3 days to finish the last 600 words, because it turned into four, maybe five thousand.
But it's done. I thought it was my longest chapter yet, but it's not even close. But it's done, and I'm finally happy with it. That said, I'm pretty drunk right now, and I was pretty drunk when I wrote the last few paragraphs, so I reserve the right to re-write later. Whatever. It's done, and I sincerely hope that at least some of you enjoy it.
New codes have been added with the new chapter. One or two of them should have been on the story before, but the rest are new for chapter 2.

I've been off the radar for a lot longer than I expected! Wow. My life took a couple of unexpected turns, starting last fall, as I lost another family member unexpectedly. I was in a dark place for a while, and that cost me my job when I snapped at a co-worker who had been antagonizing me for a long time.
I did a little consultation work while I looked for another job, and that work took all my writing time for the commute.
I eventually found a fantastic new job with a hefty pay bump (and a 1400 mile move to the west coast), and two weeks after I started, the world went into lockdown.
I was fortunate enough to keep my job, but with my wife in the same room as me all day every day my writing time was gone again. She may know that I write, but I can't write with her. It's weird.
Anyways, things are finally starting to normalize, and I just posted a new chapter in Extending the Family. It will be the last one for a long time, and I have marked the story finished, even though it's not.
I'm writing again, though not very much at the moment, but my muse is fickle, and I've started a new story in the same world. Expect very similar themes from a new, more jaded and cynical POV character. There may be a cameo from Extending the Family, and there definitely will be from Summer Vacation, if I ever finish enough of that to post.
I've only written 13k words for chapter 1 of Recanto das Prazeres, but there is a LOT of groundwork laid from the first story I was working on. I will be posting it as the chapters are done, like I did before, but I'm not going to even estimate a posting date for that chapter. Mostly because I've missed every writing deadline I've ever given myself.

Well, I finally got around to posting. It's in the queue, and might be up by the time anyone even sees this blog post. It's Chapter 4.3, as I mentioned in my last blog post, and a few people have had the chance to preview it, as a perverted thank you for helping me edit another chapter. Special thanks to TiberiusReign, who provided some very excellent advice. (Not on 4.3--all mistakes there are my own).
Anyways, sorry it took so long. My new job takes a lot more hours than my old one, and the commute is twice as long, so I just don't have a lot of free time.
Also, I kind of started a new story, and that's going to take away some of my focus from this one. I will at least finish the chapters that I've started for Expanding the Family, but it will be a while, I suspect.
Actually, this new one is a parallel story to another that I've been working on for two years or so, from a new POV, and I find quite fun. I don't think I'll be posting any of that for a good while, though, as I don't even have a single complete chapter--just 7 or 8 that are 40-70% done.
That's it for now. As per usual, I have no idea when I will post again, and no idea which story or chapter it will be. But I hope you enjoy my stories in the spirit in which they were written.
This is my first blog entry, because I've mostly been communicating with fans of my story in the comments. But the last chapter was posted so long ago that nobody's going to read that. So now I blog.
Anyway, I went on vacation for a family wedding (not my own), but while I was out of town, another family member, who I used to be very close to, died unexpectedly and brutally. So I took some time off work. Since I got back, I just hadn't been in the mood to write until just recently.
This week, though, I have written an entire chapter, and it's a long one. Well, I've almost written it. It still needs an end scene and some fleshing out, but it's 85, maybe 90% done.
It's going to be chapter 8 or 9, once I get all the intervening chapters written, but who knows when that will be? Not I. I still haven't finished chapter 3. (I re-titled my chapters to indicate that)
Here's the thing, though. The new chapter takes place around a poker table, and I am... an amateur at best. Therefore, I am looking for a couple of beta readers who can tell me how badly and where I screwed up the gameplay. Of course, nothing is free, right? So if you beta read this chapter for me and give me some good feedback, I'll give you early access to the next part that I'll be posting--the third draft of Chapter 4.3: Amanda's Afterparty. Hell, I'll let you have it if you give me bad feedback.
I actually wrote it before I left, but only today realized that I never posted it. One more draft and it's good to go.
