Yes, I'm still around and no, I'm not done with the Stranded sequel yet. Real life, work, and a real ornery muse have so far kept me moving in a different direction.
So, here's a muse-demanded tale in the Swarm Cycle Universe. It's six chapters long and should be a fun ride. Let me know what you think.
Meanwhile, the Stranded sequel ("Rage of the Furies") is plotted, outlined and currently underway. It's longer than the first, though, so it still may be a bit before it makes its appearance.
Just posted the final two chapters of Stranded. The reader response has been awesome. Thanks for all the encouragement!
There will, of course, be a sequel. Just when it will come out, however, I don't know since I haven't written it yet.
Other unfinished works on my hard drive are clamoring to get done, so I'll likely do a bit of that before starting a new one. Given my notorious short attention span, though ... who knows?
Chapters 9 & 10 have just been queued up.
Watched the score creep up above 8 today, which was pretty cool. Thanks so much to all those readers who have been so gracious with their voting. I know others are waiting until the series is complete before they give theirs.
Unfortunately, the last two chapters will likely be delayed a day or two, as I have to head out of state for a meeting. They will be up no later than Friday, though.
Chapters 7 & 8 are now in the queue.
Several readers took special note of Pavel the Collier. Could he be a subtle nod toward Argon's Pelle the Collier? Why, yes indeed! I needed someone hanging out in the woods all by himself and ... voila! ... how about a collier? They need charcoal on Chaos, right?
If you haven't read Argon's work, I would definitely encourage you to check it out.
On the matter of my Father's Day coffee mug, it turns out I wasn't the only dad who got Dr. Who merchandise on Sunday. And, yes, hot tea works just fine in it. :)
For all those who are following this, chapters 5 & 6 are now off to the moderator for approval.
I must say, this has been quite an adventure. For one thing, following all the statistics the site provides to authors is rather addicting. It really is quite fun to click the refresh button and watch the numbers update (I am such a nerd!).
Also, the reader feedback has been awesome. I have even picked up a couple ideas that have now resulted in a 12th chapter and, hopefully, an improved ending. So thanks!
Hope all you dads out there had a Happy Fathers' Day. The wife & kids got me a Doctor Who Disappearing Tardis Coffee Mug for mine. Now, if only I drank coffee. :)
