This week with Arlene and Jeff:
...Jeff stepped through the hatch to the pocket planet, feeling the odd sensation as he did so. After wandering around for a moment, he encountered one of the engineers.
The Miadax officer came to his version of "Attention."
"As you were," Jeff responded automatically. "Can you tell me where the First is?"
"Certainly, Sir," he returned with an accent so intense that Jeff could barely understand him. "He is in the…" The engineer stumbled to a halt for a second before saying, "Please follow me."
A couple of moments later, the engineer held a door open for Jeff. "Lounge," Jeff said. "The Earth word you were looking for is lounge or rec room. A place to relax, socialize and even eat or drink something."
"I have had the language mapped to my brain only a short time. I apologize, and I will practice, Sir." At least Jeff thought that's what the engineer said...

This week with Arlene and Jeff:
..."Why?" she said with a giggle. "How many wives do you think would want their husband to marry other women, hmmm? True, you have married women that I have chosen, but anyway, imagine the effect as you introduce all of us when we attend some function on another planet."
"And why would we be invited - even if they have something like that?"
"Well, it will impress any race that has space travel when they see Ship. Oh, you know that we'll have to converse with many… beings as we try to develop information about Ship's people. So, we'll probably get to know a lot of beings from many alien races. Jeff, you have some beautiful wives. Surely some of those societies will have something like a banquet or a meet-and-greet kind of thing. When your wives walk in wearing evening dresses, every adult humanoid male there will have an erection," she finished before he could continue.
Jeff just looked at her and shook his head. "You're delusional," he said with a sigh. "Beautiful, but delusional."
"She is stunning, though, isn't she?" his Queen asked while glancing at his crotch before pouncing verbally, "You're getting an erection just thinking about her."
"I am not," he denied. "I was looking at your boobs as they moved under your top when you breathed."
"Liar. Liar. Pants on fire," she singsonged...

This week with Arlene and Jeff:
..."Di… I really do have enough wives. For goodness sake, it takes three SUVs to take all of you out to eat."
"Nonsense, we can all get into two if we snuggle up," she said as she giggled.
"Honestly, Baby, when is this going to stop?" he sighed out. "There are seventeen of you, and you still want me to marry Tosha and Aiko."
"Since when do you not like pussy?" she asked instead of answering him. "And before you put your whole foot into your mouth, I have a couple of real questions."
"I know better than to ask, but what are they?"
"Well, for one, have you thought about names for the alien women? When this chemical is out of their systems, I suspect they will not enjoy being referred to by a number, when everyone else has actual names."
"Uh, I suppose you have a point. I'll speak to the First Officer about that."
"Good. Second item: I have noticed that one of the alien women seems to be recovering faster than the others, and… she's quite pretty."
"You're referring to the one we were talking to, I assume."
"Yep. And it's a shame to call her by a number."
"Di, I'm beginning to think that… You're not actually saying…" he stammered out. Then, in almost desperation, "Baby, she's an alien."
"So? Jeff, don't be silly. She's alien - so what? Think about it. The woman is beautiful. Granted, she is different, but you can't deny that she's superb - someone you could be truly proud of, especially when we sit down with other alien peoples."...

This week with Arlene and Jeff:
..."Di, we've already discussed this, and the males know what's going on."
"Make certain they understand that this will continue until Ship rids this chemical from their bloodstreams, and the women can make their own decisions - however long that will take. Baby, those women will do anything you tell them to, and I doubt that they even fully realize what's happening. They were being raped practically daily. How could the males not know that the women were out of it?"
"Di, that's all they have ever known, both males and females, all their lives and probably for many generations. At least that's what the First Officer says."
"Maybe so, but it's just… Oh, I'm so frustrated. I understand that the chemical must be reduced slowly, but I want it to be out of their bloodstreams so the women can function on their own. Be certain that the First makes his people understand that I will not be pleased if any of the males forces himself on any of the females."
"I'll reiterate it. You do realize that those two females are living in the First Officer's quarters, right?"
"Yes, but we both know that's different. Even so, I talked to the women." Diana couldn't help but chuckle. "It was hard to get them to shut up about the First long enough to answer my questions, though. To put it in its mildest terms, they are head over heels in love with him. I only want the others to be free of this drug so they can make their own decisions. I can't even imagine a society that keeps half its citizens drugged until they don't know who they are, and the society has done that for the women's entire lives. And Jeff, once this chemical is out of their bloodstreams, there should still be time given for the women to become accustomed to thinking for themselves. I have no idea how long that period should be. I suppose it might well vary with the individual. The bottom line, as you would say, will probably be a tremendous change from what the males have been accustomed to. I imagine that none of the males have ever been told 'no' by any of their women. When they wanted sex, they chose a female and went at it. Now the women will suddenly have the option of saying no, or even selecting the male or males they want. As with our society, no will mean no, if I have my way."...

This week with Arlene and Jeff:
..."My other wives and two other women assisted Ship with her point defense, consequently destroying many of your fighting drones in the process. My Clan Queen oversaw much of what the women did. Helen, a genius wife, oversaw the maintenance of Ship's engines, shields, guns and repair during the battle. Our navigator is a seven-year-old genius. Incidentally, she has recently discovered how to communicate instantly over stellar distances."
"What?" the First said as his attention riveted on what Jeff had said.
"That was the last hurdle we had to overcome before I could even think of leaving Earth to search for the race that built Ship's brain. Earth's only defense is Ship and her interceptor fleet. There are still many things that I would like to have happen before we leave, though, and one of those problems is the lack of a trained crew for Ship. She is quite capable of taking us anywhere without assistance from any of us, but… according to her, and she should know, she operates better if she has a crew, and she was built with that in mind. My wives and I were certainly not a trained crew, but…"
"You seemed to manage quite well from our standpoint," First broke in to say.
"Still," Jeff insisted, "we only assisted Ship. For instance, she chose the weapon that crippled your ship and fired when I told her to. I left the choice of weapons to her. If left totally to her own devices, she would probably have engaged your ship much sooner. I was reluctant to fire the first shot for fear of starting an interstellar war with Earth possibly fighting multiple ships with only one battleship, not to mention that I didn't know whether there were noncombatants aboard your ship. Still, we were lucky. I had never fought a space battle, and I was worried there was another ship hidden and waiting to sneak in to bombard Earth while Ship was engaged with your Raider."...
