Sometime back I posted what amounted to an essay, titled "On the Propagation of True Lycanthropy". It didn't make any real waves, and wasn't intended to do so, but it did lay some groundwork for a new collection I had in mind. Today, I updated and reposted it, in order to clarify some of the fuzzier things it contained, and to make it a better basis for a bit of world-building for the collection, which I've titled "Conversations with a Werewolf". I'm working again on the original (but unpublished) story and hope to have it ready for prime time soon. It'll be called "Accidental Werewolf", and it'll extend the world-building a bit before getting into the drama/sex/adventure that I hope to tell about.

The whole purpose of this blog is to let you know that something is in the pipes, but I don't publish partial stories anymore. It leads to too much frustration. I'm also a slow writer, so please have patience with me. I also write (and read) for fun, and if I try to put too much pressure on myself to produce, it scares my Muse away, along with the fun.

Hey! I'm back!...at least for a little while

During one of my periodic attempts to reduce the number of files on my computer, I ran across a little story that I wrote over 20 years ago, but never published. Guess what? You get to read it (if you want to)!

I tagged it as science fiction, but it's connection with that genre is only because of the environments occupied by the characters. It's actually more of a soap opera, but set in worlds other than Earth, and the characters have many of the same experiences and issues that most fiction involving human beings have.

I hope you enjoy the story, and maybe editing it will let me get past my writing lethargy. I have one project, a fantasy universe, for which I have already posted an essay, and I'm thinking that if this story does well, I might be inspired to expand on the fantasy.

QM

P.S. - I know that somebody else out there is now using "QM" as their pen name, but I have been using it as my signature on correspondence related to my stories, on this and other sites, for more years than I care to enumerate. If it bothers you, just ignore my signature line.

Another sign of the times.

On a whim, I went to the internet archive this morning, looking for the archived pages from the defunct asstr.org website. I've been there many times before, and know that there were literally thousands of pages archived there, but the response I got this morning was "Sorry. This URL has been excluded from the Wayback Machine.", with no further explanation. So far, searching the World Wide Web has yielded no clue about the reason(s). Could this be just another case of censorship?
