To publish early or not to publish early

My first part of a trilogy needs a final read before it, "Cycling Canada, eh?!" is ready for putting on SOL or any other site. I placed a cliff hanger in an epilogue at the end deliberately so and it is an important turning point for the trilogy taking some characters in directions they might not have gone. I want to have all or most of the trilogy done before placing a start of it with a cliff hanger up before the story is complete or 75% complete.

I see it as a series of travel adventures in Canada with sex which real people do while travelling, yet unreal fantasy fun with a bit of truth. I am currently on page 45 and 70% of part 2 is done. It would be CRUEL to leave you hanging there for weeks or until end of possibly September at the latest when I hope them to be complete without rushing it.

I still cannot believe I have written 76 pages of a story which is maybe 60% finished. sorry for the wait. Maybe after you read it, for Canadians, you will want to explore your own country via a staycation. For Americans or other countries it might give you ideas for a Canadian vacation.

A temporary distraction turned into an unexpected trilogy

I was 25% to 50% done writing a story when I got writers block. In order to get back on track I distracted myself with a couple short outlines for stories which may or may not get written. One of them I got fixated upon.

I broke my record for number of pages written. The first story, "Cycling Canada, Eh?!", in the trilogy is 30 pages long according to Word and the middle story is up to page 41 now with roughly 70% of this section done. I am hoping to send part one to be proof-read and edited when part 2 is done and part one is started. If it works according to plan I will be starting to write the last one as the first is being posted and the second one is being edited.

The hard part will be breaking them up and formatting. I have never written anything more than 5 pages long. I am almost done one section/focal point and then I need to cover the rest of the summer to connect to another section and then get my characters through Winter and Spring. back to summer for the end of the 2nd story. Wish me luck! I still cannot believe I wrote 70 pages. Maybe after editing it will be closer to 50 or maybe 100+ pages. That was my goal when I wanted to post here and at other sites; write book length stories I like. I still have no ideas where the characters came from or why I am still writing about them.

Next story delayed

My next story is delayed partly due to having the flu off and on for a couple weeks. Then, in my country(Canada), "The Truth and Reconciliation Report" was tabled in the Canadian Parliament. This report detailed the "Cultural Genocide" of the Canadian government ever since the British signed treaties with the first nations prior to Canada becoming a nation in 1867.

This inspired and diverted me away from a trilogy/triptych/variations of a story which remains 25% to 40% done. My new story has captivated my attention, is complex in the details and, unlike a finished story I am sitting on, this one has a happy ending. I have the plot firmly enough in my head that my wife got a rough telling of the story last night before bed time. She must have liked it since it stuck in her head all day today. I need to flesh out the main characters and the less disturbing main part of the story. The beginning will be disturbing yet essential to the story. It gets better and this is the part I am writing now. I hope to have "White Death" done and proof read by July 1st.

First Story Posted

I have been a reader here for a couple years now and after reading many great authors(aroslav, Barneyr, Bluedragon and a few others) I finally broke a decade long drought of writing. I started by splurge of manic or mania fueled writing last August. As with most products of mania 80% is garbage,15 % is okay, 4 % is great and 1% is truly AMAZING. My first offering is fun bit of fiction set in a place I am very familiar with and have taken my wife to a few times. I have been wanting to or trying to get something posted here since October. Mostly due to illness related or plain procrastination I have not had something posted before today. Thanks to Barney R for editing my first story I have my first story here. I am hoping to get a story out once a month due mostly from moods, editing and re-writes. I hope you enjoy my first story.
