The surgery was a success on Tuesday. The kidney posed no problems and the Dr. was able to get all of it. He told me the tumor was almost the size of a grapefruit. Gawd do I hate grapefruits.LOL
The colon was another story altogether. When they got inside they found not just colon but colon and rectal cancer. Have a new scare that runs from basically my pecker up to the bottom of my rib cage. New definitions for painful.
They took out the IV today and will start me on soft light food such as mashed potatoes. Was up and walking down the hall, never realized 50 feet could be so far.
All test have been completed and as of right now I am cancer free.
To everyone who has sent their well wishes and prayers, I say thank you. The support I have received from everyone here is overwhelming. It is impossible not to have a good attitude when you have so many pulling for you.
Again, thank you to each and every one I would respond individually but it still takes a bit out of me to do this. Blessed be and hopefully soon we will be back with John,Kathy and Morgan. Old Trucker
Well first I want to express a sincere thank you to all that have sent their well wishes. It means a lot to me and gives me untold strength.
Second, I will be going in for surgery tomorrow at 6am. They are removing about 1/4 of my colon and the left kidney. Both have fairly advanced cancers. If they can get it all I have a better than 90% chance of a full recovery and being cancer free.
To everyone I want to say don't give up on me. I will finish the story of John and Kathy. Please be patient.

Hello everyone, I have been putting this off for a week and I can't keep putting it off.
The story will be finished you have my word on that.
However, it may take a bit of time. Long story short, I have been having some issues and finally went to the doctor. On Monday got the news I have colon cancer, on Tuesday got the even happier news I also have kidney cancer. Now we are waiting on the doctors to get together and figure out which golf days they all have off so the can operate on me. I think one of them is holding out for a new BMW, not sure though.
Anyway, between certain aches and pains and nerves waiting on test results and such, not in a mood to write much of any thing.
Please be patient,I will return to John and Kathy as soon as I can.

When I started this I had no idea of what I was getting into. I have been a avid reader all my life and can lose myself in almost any type of book or story. I really had no idea how hard it could be sometimes to put words on paper and make them come to life for others.
Add to this naivety the trials and tribulations of trying to get a young adult stepson to learn to grow up and stand on his own two feet and you have a recipe for disaster.
I know that the kind readers of this website are not interested in my problems, heck they have problems of their own which are much more important to them. That being said, I wish to express my sincerest apologies for the lack of an update on John and Kathy. Believe me the story is not finished nor is it dead. Just the writer has a few problems to get through. Please be patient with me. Thank you to everyone who is reading and a special thank you to all who have responded to my story.
The boy wonder, as in I wonder what the heck he does all day while I'm working like a dog, has gotten the computer back from beyond the grave. The surgery was a success however the patient died. It seems that somehow all MY desktop items are lost in the void somewhere between Deep Space 9 and Vulcan. My dearly beloved's desktop survived with just a minor lisp. Physical therapy should have that cured eventually. Wonder of wonders, all of John and Kathy EXCEPT Chapter 12 survived the cold of the Ethernet. WE will begin Total Recall measures, but don't look for Arnold Schwarzenegger until the weekend, but He Will Be Bach! OT
