Chapter 41 is in the queue, for release sometime today.
This is the last full chapter. The Epilogue is all that remains, and I'll post that next week.
It's been a long road, but the end is near. Thanks to all those who've made it this far.
...is in the posting queue, and should be available pretty soon. I've shortened my posting schedule since we're so near the end of the story.
The next chapter will go up in about ten days, or you can see it on my web site, since it's been there for a couple of weeks.
At noon yesterday (my time) I posted a blog entry about how it was that SOL was soon going to eliminate links to external blog and forum sites. Therefore, I needed to re-activate my blog here, and the posting was my way of doing that. At the same time, of course, I threw in a link for my external site -- after all, why not promote yourself when you have the opportunity?
Rather interestingly, that single posting resulted in a flood of requests for an account on my site -- so many, in fact, that it boosted the membership on the site by about twenty per cent. What will be interesting is to see how many of those people stick around for any period of time, and indeed, whether all of them even log into the site after they get an account.
I guess I'll have to wait and see.
The management of this site have informed authors that they will no longer support direct connections to external blog or forum sites as of 1 July 2014. That doesn't mean that those sites will go away, just that you won't be able to click on a direct link to get there.
For example, at the end of each of my stories is a link titled "Go to MemoryHeap's blog". That link used to take you to my external site. Now, it will take you to the SOL blog. You can still get to my external site, at www.memoryheap.com.
What you'll find there are stories that don't appear on SOL, and you'll find extra chapters of stories like "The Benefits of Friends". I always post new material on my site before it gets to SOL, or other sites. That way, my readers get a chance to critique and comment before the rest of the world gets to see it.
I hope you keep reading, and keep commenting, and feel free to sign up at my site if you're not already a member. Membership is only used to keep spammers away -- it costs nothing, and is completely confidential.
Cheers
MH
