Update... of sorts.

Posted at Updated:

I'll like to firstly thank those who have taken the time to send me e-mails of encouragement and support. Also, those who have done the same to express their pleasure with my work, cheers.

I've passed the Bar exams, and have been working as an Associate in a large firm where I'm based. The natural consequence of this achievement therefore, is that I have been absolutely wrung out by the amount of work associates are supposed to do.

I would expect, and am committed, to completing this story no later than 2018 year-end. In the meantime, whatever updates there are will be completely sporadic and subject to my availability to write. This is simply to give those out there who truly enjoys this story a sense of the timeline involved.

Enough said though. I'm presently enjoying the first real break I've had (besides sleep and Sundays) for the first time in eight months, so I'll try to get something out pronto.

What a difference a week makes!

Much thanks to my editors, and football advisors for helping me get this chapter out!

On the homefront, unfortunately this would be the last chapter that I would be able to post for the next two weeks. The main reason why I would not be free to write a new chapter is because I would be swamped with trial prep, and then going to trial itself. (As part of the Bar exam - we have to fulfil the requirement of clerking with a firm for six months. I am currently close to the end of my tenure with the firm that I am clerking with.)

The other reason is that this part of the story is just such a chore to get out for me. I have gotten organised - following the examples of other successful authors, and collated a list of plot-lines, chapter summaries et cetera. Stemming from this, I actually lost myself writing up to 20,000 words worth of future chapters before realising that I have got to complete Chapter 8!

As always, it's been a joy.

Whew... the amount of research I had to do to get this chapter out was insane. Unfortunately, I now know more about Massachusetts high school football than I would ever wish to have learnt.

I still wouldn't back the quality of my independent research as such, given that I don't exactly know what I should be looking out for. Either way, I would like to express my appreciation to two readers - David Horning and Bil Cook - for answering all the football questions I had, and for keeping the football abilities of James anchored to reality.

There are so many story lines bouncing around my head as this story develops. The next few chapters will deal predominantly with college football recruitment. If you have any preferred colleges you wish to see appear in the story, feel free to shoot me an E-mail selling said college and its qualities.

As always, it has been a joy.

Chapter Five

Once again, thanks for all the kind feedback provided thus far.

I realised I sounded quite short in the previous blog entry regarding feedback pertaining to grammatical errors. Allow me to clarify - it is not so much that I don't like grammar nazis, being a rather snooty one myself. It is however the fact that I do not like my inbox being inundated with short E-mails of that nature.

I have enlisted the help of an editor, for which I'm grateful to his help and immense football knowledge in aiding me in sketching out the story further. As you can tell, I am not a U.S citizen, nor am I someone with intimate football knowledge, as such please continue to let me know if any factual errors have been made.

I hope you've enjoyed the latest chapter!

A huge thanks to everyone who has read my story so far. Simply driving up the number of downloads has bolstered my confidence.

I would also like to thank those who have taken the time to E-mail me regarding the minor grammatical/spelling errors. While I appreciate your help in pointing out the errors I've made, do not be offended if I leave the errors be. I'm also, perhaps more receptive, and grateful to those who have pointed out factual errors made, such as the disparity in height (Chpt 1) being actually 5 inches.

The reason for this is simple. I am currently studying for the Bar exam, and as such, am churning out the chapters as and when I find time to do so. Lack of literary accuracy is by no means on purpose. I am in the midst, as per some of your suggestions, of getting an editor on board.

So far, my take on this story is that it is as much a literary project/undertaking for me to dip my toes in the world of story-telling/being an author, as it is to relieve some stress amidst all the studying and work. Therefore, if you are frustrated with the sporadic updates (as I have been in previous cases of stories followed), please consider yourselves warned. I would attempt to update once a week on Thursdays. If anything, I would appreciate ideas regarding the progression of the story if you are so inclined.

Cheers,
G.J Raven
