I just wanted to say that a war time story with a horror code will probably not have a Disney story-line or ending. I got an email from a very disgruntled reader who was mad the story was not light and fluffy with a happy ending. Bad things happen sometimes, sorry. Although compared to the next new story I'm going to post, Targets of Opportunity, Enemy Within IS positively light and fluffy. Although ToO has a slightly happier ending. When life is grim, your stories take a darker turn. I remember the lead singer of Metallica commenting it was hard to write gritty, angry songs while sitting beside the pool outside his mansion watching his happy family swimming. The reverse is true as well. I tweaked the codes and teaser to make the story seem darker.
I have always liked the plot for The Enemy Within. Unfortunately, the story itself never really came together the way I wanted. I recently revisited the story and tweaked the first and last chapters, and moved the end of the first chapter to the last chapter. I also wrote a completely new middle chapter. One of the other Swarm authors commented that the story "is beginning to look like one long story instead of a medley of unrelated stories mashed together." I hope you will think so also. There is also a final chapter of Growing Up being edited that ties the stories together. Aftermath is still being worked on as is another new story. Hopefully they will be ready to be posted soon.
I am sorry it took so long for the next chapter of Aftermath to be finished. Work became crazy and scared my muse off. I've managed to lure my muse back and tied her firmly to my computer, so hopefully the next few chapters will come out a bit faster. NaNoWriMo is coming up next month so that should help also. 1,666 words per day for a month is my goal.
