Posting 'WiC' continues

As soon as I continued posting 'WiC' the score started dropping ;-) -- I have to admit that I almost expect some more serious drops in near future. On the other hand, even temporary visits to the Top50 -list are something I never even dared to consider. There are still almost 40 chapters to come and there will be some twists in the story that I'm quite sure that some of the the readers will not like. However, I'll not apologize those since I wrote the story the way it came to me. Also, I intend to keep on posting 'WiC' just as quickly as my editors manage to wipe out my errors.

I got some more feedback about the story itself: I do sincerely apologize about the factual errors in that story - I know that there are many and I intend to take most of the feedback in my heart in order to avoid them in the future. However, I finished writing 'WiC' for more than a year ago and since then the main issue had been to get all the 57 chapters (+ Epilogue) edited and published. I know, the first piece of fiction you write since middle school, this time with foreign language and you make it 300+ pages long document. At least reading it is all voluntary :-P

Now, a year later I see my first story as an assignment, a practical work I needed to do. It is as it is, errors and all. After all, it is only a piece of fiction. Beware that my future works will most likely contain some same elements than 'WiC' but I do not promise that my main characters will act the same way. In fact, I feel that I should not be held fully responsible for their behavior.

Thanks all!

I would have never believed that I'll get so many responses (20+) to my request - and I only have those three stories to work with and I seriously feel that my stories are not THAT great...

I promise to response to each one of you who volunteered and especially those I'll start working with. The one thing I learned with 'Revenge' is that with my skills finishing writing the story is just the beginning.

Help with editing?

Folks, I have a problem. I do have an editor but I'd like him to be the LAST editor of my stories. Unfortunately, in order to keep his work tolerable there should somebody else besides me to proofread my doings. As you can guess from this blog.

I guess that the real problem is my stories are not short, 'Revenge' was 200k text, 39k words, 'WiC' is 720k text, 140k words. Then there are two other stories with 68k and 85k words waiting for proofreading. Based on my initial feedback I made a decision for not to publish anything until it has been edited and I intend to keep that promise. I have more ideas and would like to write but without editing help those works will never be posted here.

There has been some promises for editing and I have even sent my texts to some volunteers but I since I have not heard about them I decided to ask help this way. Remember, I have one good editor who takes a final look of my texts but I seriously need someone not to spick-and-span my stories but to help with the simple errors and mistakes.

I really need to get those stories out of my head. It's getting crowded there...

If I had used my native tongue and written a novel it would almost be a best-seller of the beginning of the year :-P

Thank you for all the voters and especially to those who sent feedback. Now I promise to push as much as I only dare those poor souls who promised to proofread my new stories. There are three stories waiting for editing and I intend to publish them all once I can only get them into readable form.

'Revenge' ends

So, the second story I finished and the third one I started is the one that will be fully published here. Great thanks to my editors and to everyone who commented the story and encouraged me to continue writing. As a starting writer I of course followed my scores like a hawk in the beginning but soon I understood that with my skills and style they are probably as high as they can go. I'm much too old an cynical to write genuinely happy stories. If someone can live her/his life being overly happy all the time then it is good for him/her. I do not fully believe it and in probably shows.

Altogether it means that if you want to criticize my storylines and the way my characters are acting you are free to do so. Just as I'm free to ignore those comments. However, if you have some ideas how to give more 'flesh' to the my characters and how to enrich my way of expressing things you can be sure that I read those comments in detail. However, please keep in mind that I may want to express the state of mind of the character in the way I'm writing and IF my style varies between my stories there may be a reason for it. If it does not... well, even if I've written out enough to fill two or three books I consider myself a beginner in this stuff.

Currently I have two other stories (besides 'WiC') waiting for some brave persons to take a look at them and to make the first corrections to my writings. As you can see from my blog my grammar skills -- well, I TRY to memorize some of it even if takes some fun out of my writing.

btw. 'WiC' continues as soon as proofreading allows.
