St. Mary’s Institute for Young Ladies wasn’t a regular school. In old times it would be called a “finishing school.” The students were taught social graces, as well as subjects as domestic economy, haute cuisine, protocol and a series of skills -finance, business, enterpreneurship, and sex- to become wives -and lovers- of the very rich and powerful.
