It's axiomatic. People will try to do the right thing if life dumps a steaming pile of moral ambiguity on them. But, the right thing isn't always obvious, especially in abnormal circumstances. So, it's important to think through all the implications before you decide. Because, hasty actions can spawn another term, "It seemed like a good idea at the time." I offer this example of dubious ethics and bad judgement to prove that point.

Vanessa likes to dance at parties. Her loving husband finds her with her legs wrapped around the hairy butt of her boss. Should he bury both of them in the back yard? Or is there something else going on here? This story centers on the classic conjecture, "If a tree falls in a forest and there is nobody around to hear, is there a noise?" Except the question posed here is, "If your wife has sex with another man, when is it not cheating?

Our hero married her, because she was great in bed. What can he say? He confused lust with love. It never occurred to him that her talents might represent a problem, long-term. Now he's stuck with a wife who acts like an unruly teenager; while he works hard for a living. But what alternative does he have? This short tale outlines a path to self-discovery and resolution that many a poor divorcee has followed in his day.
