The story, part of the Wizards' series, is dark, and something of a tear-jerker. I wrote the story in response to a song. It can be read as a stand-alone, although it's best understood if you've read Combat Wizard (on SOL) and the remaining stories in the Wizard series on Bookapy.
Decide for yourself after you read the story! IF you do, that is; it's likely to offend more than a few! I classified it as 'true', because there's more than a little truth in it! I'll leave you to figure out which part isn't!
This is a much-revised version of a long novel I posted on SOL in 2013. I expect to post new chapters weekly. The MC gets a new life, but this is no simple do-over; he has a much-improved body and a minimal tool kit, but beyond that he's on his own. No laws, no government--this is ultimate survival, on an Earth in the late Ice Age. There are others like him, including women, if he can find them, while avoiding the sabertooths and giant bears!
Jake was born during one of the most turbulent times in American history! From revolution to republic, heworked when he could, fought when necessary, and in the process began a career that would make him one of the best known men in Texas!

Chuck Sneyd joins his grandfather Morty in an effort to build a new form of spaceship. Instead of rockets, the ship is to have a new form of propulsion. Instead of explosive fuels, the impeller is electric drive; feed in power, the impeller turns it into motion. If they succeed, any number of industries will suddenly find themselves pushed aside. They are not at all pleased, nor are governments who would like very much to discover how the impellers work!
Young Holisz was fascinated by the study of wizardry, but then he found something even more interesting: girls! Young women! One in particular took his fantasy, but there was a problem. Holisz, orphaned as a young boy, worked as groom to the baron's horses, while the damsel who captured his fancy was the baron's only daughter! 'Twas a forbidden relationship, and when Holisz' enemies discovered them together, quick were they to inform the baron! 'Tis a rollicking tale, and ye enjoy low humor!
