I bitcoin still around? Last I heard about it over a year ago, one of the major bitcoin exchanges collapsed after being hacked and another was being investigated for fraud by several national jurisdictions.
Bitcoin was touted as a better method for paying for illegal substances (child porn, drugs or gun deals) because it was harder to trace. There was a move to 'legitimize' it's use by applying it to online services (using it to make purchases on retail outlet's websites), but that use never caught on. When the market started to fall apart (due to the aforementioned fraud and hacking), most people (other than investors and the illegal users) gave up on it.
That's at least the last I heard on the topic, months ago.
