The story was the tale of a man who had been horrifically abused by his mother, to the point that he was unable to handle any sort of proximal closeness to women. His work tells him that he must go to therapy, and they check him in to inpatient. While there, he meets a woman who he feels could protect and love him, but she says no. Winds up introducing him to another woman who is famous in his neighborhood for her good works.
Excellent story but I cannot find it in my read list anywhere.
