M/C inherits/acquires rundown property (in UK?). Finds secret room in/under gatehouse or bridge abutment. Many ancient goods hidden there. Sells some, returns others to home country, donates others (to British Museum?) Is given wife/concubine from foreign potentate. Story at least 10-15 years old.
It's gone Premier only so I can't be sure but I don't think so. The only one that looks anywhere close would be the Mists of Time story but that doesn't have a foreign ruler, a concubine, ancient goods, and the only old buildings were two manors. Thanks for trying though.

I got my copy – and many more – through Wayback Machine.
After reading all I sorted them into two groups:
• Science Fiction & Fantasy
• Contemporary stories
I put Unusual Treasure into "Contemporary".
Since I retrieved all those stories, some were put up here on SoL, but all of them were SF&F, none of them from the Contemporaries (as I classified them).
BTW, some of the retrieved stories violate the age restriction on SOL.

Yeah, my favorite of his stories is incomplete, even through the machine. I've been told that City Guardsman was originally 14-16 chapters but now only 6 or 7 are retrievable and there are 1 or 2 gaps in those.
Chapter 1-6 +8, of City Guardsman is available on the Wayback Machine, chapter 7 appears to be missing.

No problems, I do it to other people all the time. I try to do it "funny" but tone of voice gets lost in black and white and sometimes it blows up in my face. :shrug:
