Robin Hood

PotomacBob ๐Ÿšซ

I seek the name and author of your favorite book about Robin Hood. For my purposes, I prefer the language to be fairly modern - not an attempt to follow what an author believes to be the English used at the time of Robin Hood.
Preferably, the book would be on SOL, but dead-tree version is acceptable.

Are you looking for accounts of the traditional stories or for modern authors' takes on the tradition?

Only dead tree authors come to mind:
- Howard Pyle, The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood (classified as children's book)
- Walter Scott, Ivanhoe, where Robin of Locksley and Friar Tuck play crucial roles
I always wondered how merry his merry men were in that forest without lusty wenches, but in the two books mentioned, all women were of a "noble" mindset, i.e. not prone to lusty behaviour.
How about a Contest for raunchy Robin Hood-themed stories?

I enjoy Sir walter scott...as much for trying to twist my tongue around the english of the time as for the story itself...try it..

Oddly enough, I just came across 'The Erotic Adventures of Robin Hood' by Ann Douglas and it reminded me of this topic. I'm pretty sure it's not what you're looking for :-(
