Well, I'm Tickled.

Darian Wolfe

Today, I met a small mile marker. I met the contribution requirements to qualify for premium services between an older pen name and this one.

I'm happy for two reasons. I can't afford them and two meeting the requirement is my way of giving the finger to the illness that has forced me to make so many restrictive changes in my life. Once I was able to write again. I promised myself I was going to do it this year.

I want to say thanks to folks here who have been supportive of my efforts. It's often been one of the few bright spots I've had in recent months. It's been truly appreciated.

******* CHILDISH BEHAVIOUR BELOW ********

I know this is childish and silly, but to the Migraine and Broca's Aphasia, I share almost every waking moment of my existence with I'm gonna end this shit with a fuck you and have a nice day.

@REP

Thank you, REP. I think Mr. Evans may be the best story I've ever written. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Don't feel like you're walking this road alone. You'll note that the vast majority of authors here are, as they say, 'Old White Dudes'. Most of us NEVER studied English as a career option, and only came to it late, either after we retired, or in MANY of our cases, after we became disabled are were UNABLE to work anywhere else.

Everyone needs a purpose in life, and if you can no longer define yourself through work, we suddenly discover that a lifetime of accumulated knowledge and experience leaves us well-equipped to weave rich stories that the many 'better-educated' younger folk trying to 'strike it rich' by publishing the 'next great U.S. novel' (even if they're from somewhere else).

Many of us have trod the exact same ground you're walking now, but you only get that information in drips and dabs, spread out over time, so it's hard to grasp when you're just starting out. For most of us, it's tough confessing your deepest, darkest secrets over and over, especially since we were raised to 'stand up for yourself, don't make excuses and NEVER apologize!'.

By the way, congratulations. I know it's an important milestone. May I suggest you show off a bit by visiting the 'Lost Stories' section and researching a few stories with your newfound search authorizations? 'D

Enjoy!

Yeah, glaring balefully at the screen isn't much help in the online world. I know, I've tried it repeatedly, and it's no more helpful than shouting at the people you disagree with. :(

I recommend making puns, or jokes if your sense of humor allows reasonable repartee. Make your friends happy and your enemies confounded.

You may be tickled but readers won't know about it without reading your stories because there isn't a tag for 'tickle fetish' ;)
